These walnut mushroom burgers have officially earned a spot at the cookout. 🍔🌰
Built with simple but delicious ingredients, packed with flavor, and honestly? Way more satisfying than people expect the first time they hear “walnut burger.”
Our walnuts bring the richness, texture, and hearty bite that make this recipe actually feel like a burger, not just a substitute pretending to be one.
And beyond flavor, walnuts bring nutritional benefits too. They’re packed with plant-based protein, omega-3 ALA fatty acids, antioxidants, and nutrients that support heart and brain health. So this is one of those meals that tastes good and feels good.
WALNUT MUSHROOM BURGER RECIPE
• 1.5 cups walnuts
• 1 cup cremini mushrooms, roughly chopped
• 1/2 cup rolled oats
• Garlic powder
• Onion powder
• Smoked paprika
• Cumin
• 1 tbsp soy sauce
• 1/2 tsp liquid smoke
• Avocado oil for cooking
Add everything to a food processor and pulse until crumbly but make sure not to overblend it! You want texture here.
Just like any burger, form into patties and chill for 30 minutes so they hold together on the grill or flat top.
Sear on a hot griddle for 3–4 minutes per side until a crust forms on the outside.
Build it your way, but we’re big fans of brioche buns, burger sauce, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and caramelized onions.
This is the kind of recipe we love sharing because it shows how creative you can really get with walnuts, they sure are more diverse than people think. They can hold their own at taco night, pasta night, snack boards… and yes, even burger night.
