Found this today and I had to repost it : A man was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young pullets and 10 roosters to fertilize the eggs.
He kept records. Any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced.
This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell from a distance which rooster was performing.
He could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells.
His favorite rooster was a very fine specimen but, one morning he noticed that so far his bell hadn't rung at all.
When he went to investigate, the other roosters were busy chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing, but couldn’t catch the pullets, who were alerted by hearing the sound of the bells.
To the man’s pride and amazement, his prize rooster had his bell in his beak so it couldn't ring. The wily old rooster would sneak up on a pullet, do his business, and walk on over to the next one.
He was so proud of his prize rooster that he entered him in competition at the state fair.
His star rooster was an overnight sensation among the judges, who awarded him not only the "No Bell Peace Prize" but the "Pullet surprise" as well.
