As intern season wraps up at The Farm, we’re sending a big thank you to the team who helped make this summer such a success! From planting and animal care to lending Chef Paula a hand in the kitchen, our interns jumped in wherever they were needed.

The work on the farm doesn’t slow down when summer ends, and we’ll definitely miss the extra hands that helped make it all a little easier. We’re grateful for their hard work and enthusiasm and wish them a great school year. Thank you for everything you contributed to the farm this season!

We are all set to have another great day at the Glenview Farmer’s Market on Saturday! This season has been so special, thanks, in part, to our sponsors, J. Blanton Plumbing and Floor Coverings International. The market wouldn’t be possible without the support of our community. If you see their booths at the market, make sure to say hello!

Is a tomato a fruit, a vegetable, or both? Botanically, tomatoes are classified as fruits because their seeds are inside; however, they are also vegetables! How can this be? Well, the word vegetable is not a botanical or scientific definition, but a culinary classification designating different kinds of savory produce all into one group.

Want to learn more fun facts about tomatoes? Come to Tomato Fest to taste all our tomato varieties, create your own custom flower bouquet in our U-Cut flower field, participate in a spaghetti eating contest, hear some great tunes from Mr. G and the Mystery Band, and celebrate all things tomato!

It’s tomato season, we have plenty of freshly picked heirloom tomatoes for sale and Chef Paula is whipping up some delicious tomato-based goodies for the store! Our newest addition is a tomato spice cake. This might seem like an unusual combination, but the tangy sweetness of the Farm’s heirloom tomatoes melds with the cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves to create a moist and flavorful cake perfect for late summer.

Stop by the store today, or anytime this weekend to pick up your own!
