Our favorite mistake. This is Will Feral. He was hatched by a broody mama and raised like a wild child, hence "Feral." Plus it's funny. He's the product, we believe, of an accidental Legbar - English Isabel Orpington cross. He's a noisy checkered bowling ball.

A foot of snow overnight in Rosboro. We cleaned these off last night. When I came out at 6 only the one on the far left was collapsed. The other two fell in while we were clearing snow. 1 hen fatality so far. There was over a foot of snow on the Bresse enclosure. We had supports but they were inadequate. I have learned that a series of 1-room cages is sturdier than any of the longer enclosures. And also the Chicken Fort, made of free pallets, field fence, and tent poles, saved the day.
