Our old hay barn is the only original building still left from when this ranch was homesteaded back in the late 1800s, but we still put it to good use.

We have to be honest: we're a pretty unusual farm. I mean, we are a commercial iris grower, a forested wedding venue and ranch for rescued donkeys, all in one place.

We're a bit off the main road, both literally and figuratively, but that is what makes our farm unique.

October 1st. It really did feel like fall was beginning, but that’s ok. Who doesn’t love fall, right? Time to finish planting those fields, though - this winter is supposed to be a wet one.

Kinda bittersweet; selling off the old tractors. I know, I know - they are just equipment…but they both represent a huge part of our farm’s story - they both literally created the Iris farm we have now from the cattle ranch we began with.

The good part? Both went to excellent homes, one to a ranch and the other a horse rescue. And the fact that we now own a new larger Kubota tractor that makes all the field work easier and gets it done quicker is a definite win.

Still, I’ll miss the old stuff…while driving the new 😉
