Self motivation speech...

You call yourself a homesteader?

Then answer me this: when was the last time you checked the waterers? When was the last time you collected eggs before sunset? When was the last time you fixed the fence before the predator found the hole?

You think this is about chickens? It's not about chickens.
It's about stewardship.
These birds don't care if you're tired. They don't care if it's raining. They don't care that you had other plans today. Every morning they're waiting for you to show up.

Always. Be. Caring.
Always be feeding. Always be watering. Always be collecting. Always be breeding. Always be improving.

That coop won't clean itself. Those genetics won't preserve themselves. That endangered breed won't save itself.
You want a freezer full of food? Work. You want a basket full of eggs? Work. You want a flock that lasts for generations? Work.

The difference between a dreamer and a homesteader is simple: one talks about the life, the other hauls fifty-pound feed bags in the rain.

Now get out there. The hens are already on the clock. 🐔🥚
