Welp… here we go again!

I wasn’t planning to incubate any more eggs this year BUT when you get a purple one you kinda gotta.

Next year we plan to hatch a lot more chicks (and ducklings) and add several of those to our flock.

We will also be selling a lot too so don’t be scared to ask about what we are hatching🐣

We are breeding for (mostly) speckles, plus color and size.

Looking for lots of speckles, rainbow colors and larger eggs.

I haven’t ever felt the need to name my sourdough starter but I love seeing all the creativity punny names people come up with.

Yesterday I spent some time teaching my kids about Dolly Parton and all the amazing work she did and introduced them to the song Jolene.

As Cody was pulling out my starter so I could bake for the market this weekend I had Jolene on repeat in my head. As I looked at my jar my brain instantly said DOUGHLENE.

I could NOT think of a better icon for my starter to pay homage to than the late Dolly.

I hope it stands as a constant reminder to always do good in this word and help as many people as possible. Thats what my dream is and she lived it.
I hope I can be like her one day. Full of class, grace and authentic self expression that blessed so so many lives and will continue to do so even after her passing
