We now have eggs for sale once more!

1 Dozen: $5.00
1 18 Pack: $7.00

After a winter of our hens not laying, we're back in production! Maybe it was the feed - we don't know, but we're now feeding them an organic feed instead of Purina Layena or Dumor brand.

Eggs range in size, see attached picture of egg-in-hand for an average sized egg. Some are bigger, some are smaller. We will make every attempt to filter out the smaller eggs and eat them ourselves :)

They are not consistent grades, and range the full gamut (B, A, AA).

Yolks are pretty consistently yellow-orange.

Eggs are NOT cleaned and NOT refrigerated. Eggs keep on the counter for up to about 4 weeks when not cleaned. If you get eggs from us that are 3 weeks old or so, I would recommend you go ahead and refrigerate them unless you plan to eat them soon. Eggs from the store are typically 3-4 weeks old by the time they get to the store.

See attached pictures for examples of eggs at various ages. Water testing them is a quick way to check their freshness. If they FLOAT, they are BAD!

If you prefer to clean them, you can do so with a wet paper towel, just be sure to refrigerate them afterwards as this removes the protective bloom which keeps out bacteria.

Current flock is a barnyard mix that includes genetic inputs including Buff Orpington, Easter Egger, Leghorn, Brahma, Black Australorp, Golden Comet, and ISA Brown. Plans coming later for another flock for more consistent color and size.

Please message me if you would like to purchase eggs. I will deliver up to two days per week here in Gloucester. For our friends across the bridge, if there is enough demand I will deliver to one location (parking lot) up to one time per week.

This is the new plot. Compost in each row, arborist wood chips in the pathways. Plants are growing best I’ve ever had, minimal bugs except aphids, but seeing ladybugs too. Some of the tomatoes are already near the top of the stakes!

Now that we’re past the freaky late freezes, things are growing! Still have peppers to put in, more tomatoes, more squash and cukes, more lettuce. Harvesting broccoli and cabbage and lettuce now. Plenty of mustard but a bit spicy

Getting there slowly but surely. This early hot weather is really throwing a wrinkle into things. Also trying to leave more uncut growth in the yard this year to attract more bees and other native insects

This is the post I meant to share - apparently I don't know how to FB - lots of lettuce, mustard and maters. Squash is just sprouting and being transplanted. Still figuring out what we need vs what we can help others with
