Sept. 6, 2018: Chambourcin grapes are slowly progressing with Brix readings
between 17 and 21 with a vineyard average of 19. Picking looks best post
9/15/18.

09/01/2018

Sept. 1, 2018 as expected recent rains have slowed ripening and Brix readings
today are between 17-19. Expect harvest to be delayed until after 15 Sept.

08/26/2018

2018 Chambourcin: verasion (berry coloring) is completing, currently reading 16 to
17 Brix (% sugar) towards a 23 brix at harvest. The full moon will help maturation
and 11 to 15 Sept. may be harvest dates for planning purposes. I will continue to
update this site with both brix and pH as brix gets above 20.

08/28/2017

On 8/28/17 the Chambourcin were at Vinyard average of 20 Brix. The are progressing well ahead of normal and may reach between 22 and 23 Brix by Labor day, 2 weeks early. Winemakers plan for an early picking. LP

08/19/2017

15 August 2017: Grapes appear to be ripening several weeks early this year. The Chambourcin are currently measuring 15 to18 Brix with an objective of 22-23. Meaning that they may be ready to pick about Labor day weekend or shortly thereafter. I will keep info posted on this site.

9/13/2016 The CHAMBOURCIN crop is performing very well in spite of the adverse weather. Some may have been disappointed with the 2015 crop, I for one was, but it looks Iike the 2016 crop is trying to redeem the varital. The bunches are well balanced and large, thanks to extensive thinning by Dave and Larry. This harvest looks to be the best in the last 5 years. The Vinyard average is currently near optimal with a Brix (% sugar)of 21 and a pH of 3.4.
Chris if you get to see this message please call, I apologize, but I seem to have lost your phone number.

09/10/2016

2016 Chambourcin on Fri. 9/9 the Brix was 17 -22 (we had 1-2 in. rain which tends to lower sugar/Brix) with PH readings 3.18 to 3.35. Best harvest still looks like 15 to 18 Sept.2016.

09/08/2016

As of 9/5/16 Chambourcin is running 18 - 21 Brix with pH up to 3.5. I will report again on Thurs.9/8 but expect best harvest to be 15 -18 Sept., maybe!
