Remember when we said Jim had fish poisoning? It had nothing to do with food safety.

Jim cut his hand on a fish's mouth—yes, fish can have really sharp teeth. Fish also have a lot of bacteria in their mouths, so naturally, Jim's hand got infected.

Being days away from shore, there wasn't much he could do. After two-ish weeks of basically being one-handed, he's finally starting to heal.

Few people realize how demanding and dangerous commercial fishing really is.

Fishing isn't a 9 to 5 kind of job. It's easy for Arizonans to forget Alaska doesn't get dark in the summer.

Since fish are more active during dawn and dusk (even when "dusk" lasts for hours), Jim and the kids have been working in shifts all summer.

Quality seafood begins the moment the fish comes aboard. We go the extra mile to process our fish in a way that prevents spoiling and preserves the flavor so that when you open a package from us, it tastes as fresh as if you caught it yourself.

Nora, Rails, and Connor ran fishing for three weeks this summer!

Every fisherman jokes about one day being a "slipper skipper" - a captain that doesn't have to gear up and can stay in his deck shoes and just drive the boat. A three week case of fish poisoning in the hand wasn't how Jim planned it, but he finally got his slippers. 😂

From a mom’s perspective, it blows my mind when I remember doing this work with my infant son strapped to my back and now see my children do it.

The kids are a huge help. Most people don’t realize fishing is a 24/7 business. Our boat runs constantly and someone always needs to pay attention to the wheel. It can take 6 hours to reach "our spot" and then we only have a few days to fish, so work is non-stop and everything is handled in shifts, including naps! So proud of my wild Alaskan fishing family.

Just us, or did July fly by in a blink!? Here are a few quick updates for the weeks ahead...

MARKET SCHEDULE:
📆 Saturdays we're at Prescott Farmers Market and Payson Farmers Market and Sundays, we're at Sedona Community Farmers Market.

MARKET NEWS:
🥩 Sedona folks get a special treat! We'll have a small amount of grass-fed, grass-finished beef from Tres Hermanas Ranch on the weeks Ernesto isn't at the market.
👨‍🍳 Prescott folks can still enjoy our wild-caught halibut served up by our friends at Twisted Spoon Food Co and treat their pups to clean seafood when they stop by

FROM THE FISHERMAN:
🎣 Jim and the kids are doing well. There have been a few bumps, bruises, cuts, and scrapes, but thankfully nothing too serious. If they aren't catching king salmon, they're gillnetting chum salmon for the canneries...bringing home premium seafood for the markets doesn't pay all the bills.

We hope everyone is having a great summer, and we see you at one of the markets soon!

We’ll have a limited supply of your favorite cuts to fill in the weekends when Tres Hermanas can’t make the market.

What makes our seafood different? A lot of things!

Alaska claims some of the cleanest, well-cared-for water on the planet, and you can taste it in the species it supports. Wild-caught halibut from Alaska is meaty, but with a slightly sweet flavor we know Chef CJ will make shine.
