Say hello to Craft Castle Rock’s June Members of the Month, Suella Hughes and Sara Mahoney with the Mortgage Nerd Group! These ladies are making waves in the lending world 🌊 Read our interview with them below!

Craft: Tell us a little about what you do!

Suella: I am a lender. Helping people get home mortgages, but I am not just any lender. I have an educational approach and view myself as more of a mortgage manager/strategist. Your home is an asset, just like your stocks, or any investment, and it should be managed throughout the entire term. So not only do I get someone a mortgage, but I continue to help them manage that asset, so they know they are always in the best financial position with what will probably be their largest asset ever owned.

Sara: I’m a mortgage loan officer and co-lead of The Mortgage Nerd Group. I help guide homebuyers—especially first-time buyers and move-up buyers—through one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. We’re known for “running the nerdy numbers” to build custom mortgage strategies that align with each client’s long-term goals. Educating, supporting, and celebrating people on their journey to homeownership is what I love most.

Craft: What’s your go-to productivity hack or routine?

Suella: Shutting my phone off and turning on music! I must have no distractions, which is also another big reason we got a suite at craft. It is almost impossible for me to work at home!

Craft: What’s the best thing about having Craft as your office space?

Sara: The energy! There’s something about being around other driven, creative professionals that keeps me inspired. It’s also the perfect mix of community and focus—whether I’m working through a loan scenario, recording content, or hosting a client consult, Craft makes me feel supported and productive.

Say hello to Craft Castle Rock’s Member of the Month, Kris Brader! Kris is a Farmers Insurance Agent known around Craft for his consistent smile and positive attitude ☀️Read our interview with him below!

Craft: Tell us a little about what you do!

Kris: I offer all types of insurance - Commercial, Life, Auto, Homeowners, and all of the 'Colorado Toys' - Boats, RV's, Side-By-Sides, Golf Carts, etc. The protection I offer comes into play on one of the worst days of my client's life- the day a tragedy occurs.

Craft: What inspired you to break into insurance?

Kris: I ended up in this business because I was looking for more quality of life. I needed a better life/work balance in order to spend time with my wife and daughter. My previous career had me working nights and weekends, often until 11 pm or even 2 am in the morning!

Craft: What’s the best thing about having Craft as your office space?

Kris: The best thing about working in Craft is the others that work here as well. I have formed many friendships and even mutually beneficial business relationships! I am fairly outgoing - there's always someone to talk to!

Craft: What’s your go-to productivity hack or routine?

Kris: The most recent activity that has both saved time and increased productivity is that I moved coffee meetings to 7 or 7:30am. This gets my days started a little earlier, and I'm not using work hours to meet with other members of the community. 2 birds, 1 stone!

Say hello to Craft Castle Rock's Member of the Month, Vanessa Antonsen! Vanessa owns V and A Creations and will co-host our 4/17 happy hour 🍹Read our interview with her below!

Craft: Can you tell us a bit about your business?

Vanessa: V and A Creations is a combination of designing, making and teaching paper crafts, specifically greeting cards. As a professional paper crafter one task accomplished is I design, make, and sell greeting cards. Purchased by businesses for use and resale. From my office, as well as in craft shows. A majority of my work is for classes. I teach others to recreate the designs I make and use many techniques of art and craft for greeting card making. There is so much more that can be created with paper. For example, I've designed and made paper dresses for fundraiser events and window displays. The paper dresses have been worn by models who walk fashion runways.

Craft: What inspires you and your work?

Vanessa: Color is the basis of most of my design inspiration. Which is found everywhere, colors are very much part of daily life, thus giving consistent inspiration. They also have psychological references which are quite interesting and often get interpreted differently depending on culture and preference.

Craft: How does working at Craft help fuel your creativity or productivity?

Vanessa: Having an office space in the Craft community is incredible. A space to keep supplies, consider ideas, plan projects and meet with clients is thumbs up. Lastly but most appropriate is the name of the co-working space: Craft, it's perfect for my business.

Craft: What's an exciting project you're working on?

Vanessa: Having the creative freedom of owning a craft business there are always exciting projects in the works. Currently I've been leaning into the sassy/sarcastic world of greeting card making with a vintage look. They are beautiful, funny, rich and well sassy. It's a style I secretly adore. They always sell out at craft shows and events, which surprises me every time! If you're interested, stop by my office 231 to buy or make a few.
