My order of 500 red wiggler worms were delivered today. They will live in a worm bin, eat food scraps, and create a lot of p**p. The p**p (worm castings) can be used as a natural fertilizer for seed starting and as an amendment to the soil in the garden. The best part is that these 500 worms will turn into 1000 worms in about three months. Even more p**p!

Winter. Not my favorite season, but I took the time to walk around and enjoy the 3" of snow that we got yesterday. I've also been planning the garden and ordering seeds. It's already time to start seeds for early spring blooms.

We found Pink Lady's Slippers on one of our walking trails. They are a type of wildflower in the orchid family and need a certain type of soil fungus in order to germinate. The flowers are so interesting and beautiful!
