Yesterday was the first county fair my niece competed in with her horse Dakota. He did an amazing job. It’s been so incredible to be witness to her skills excelling when it comes to her horse riding. Ten years ago we moved to the farm and it’s been ten wonderful years of spending time with my niece on the farm with her horses. Today, an unfortunate accident happened and Dakota suffered a severe injury which led to the necessary use of euthanasia. My heart is broken for Dakota and Skylar. She is such an incredible young lady who has skyrocketed this summer with her talent. It’s just not fair. Skylar Rohach

Didn’t expect to wake up at 4am on a Monday to mayhem. The cows busted out of their fence and made it down to the neighbors driveway. Everyone is back home. Somehow I was the only one who woke up during the chaos. We will have quarters and halves available in September for our grass fed/grass finished beef!!

A dozen cow butts for you today! Each and every one of these butts was born here. I’m incredibly proud of our healthy herd and the work it took to make it happen. Our herd is grass fed and grass finished. They spend the summer rotating on pasture and the winter on hay and hope. Each has a name and is part of Rebel Rooster Farm.

What’s it like being a farmer? Don’t you ever want a day off? How do you go on vacation? I get asked questions like this often and they make me giggle. If you had any idea how it felt to wake with the sun and find baby ducks in the coup then you’d know! You’d know how incredibly rewarding the work is even on the tough days. These little guys will join our flock but for the mean time they are tucked in a brooder in the barn to stay safe.
