The bine loader and harvest wagon! This piece of equipment is responsible for bringing in every single hop bine from the field using just one person. The plants are cut near the ground while driving through a hop row. The plants then travel in a track chain until they reach the breaker wheel at the back of the tractor, the tractor speed and track timing are synced up so that the hop plant is stretched out taunt over top of the harvest wagon before the top rope breaks from being pulled and the plant lands in the trailer. The trailer also has a special floor that helps convey the piles of hops onto the floor near the picking machine for the machine loaders.. on a typical day we will do 15-20 trailer loads of hops!
