Incubator #1 has entered the chaos stage🐣😂

The poults are hatching, the peeping has begun, and the fluff count is steadily climbing✨

Now for the important question:
How many poults do you think we'll end up with from this incubator? 👀

Closest guess gets bragging rights!

This was taken on day 18 of incubation and somebody is already practicing their dance moves. 🥚🐣

One of my favorite parts of incubation—seeing the little wiggles during candling. ✨

Incubator #1 has its first pip! 🐣
This little poult is living up to the "early bird" title. 😂

I walked in this evening to check temperatures and humidity and heard the faintest chirping. I didn't have to search long—this overachiever is front and center, already announcing its arrival to the world.

I've been thinking about giving the incubators names so I don't have to keep calling them "Incubator #1," "Incubator #2," and so on. I'd like them to kind of go together as a set, but beyond that I'm open to ideas.

Drop your best incubator name suggestions below! 👇🐥

Everyone tucked themselves in early tonight. 🐔💤

There will be no complaints from me—the evening chores are a bit less chaotic when the flock decides bedtime is before sunset.

One question we get pretty often is: What do you feed your birds?
For our flock, we use Red Chain 18% Super Chick as a free-choice feed for birds of all ages. Since we keep a mixed flock with chicks, growing birds, laying hens, and roosters, we like having a single high-protein, unmedicated feed that works for everyone. As a bonus they are also local!

Because it isn't a traditional layer feed, we also offer crushed oyster shell free-choice so our laying hens can get the extra calcium they need while the rest of the flock simply ignores it.
Every flock is different, and feed is one of those topics where everyone has their own preferences and reasons behind them.

So now we're curious:
🥚 What feed do you use for your chickens?
🐓 Do you feed different rations for different ages, or keep everyone on the same feed?
🌱 Any supplements or flock favorites you swear by?

Drop your setup in the comments—we're always interested in hearing what works for other poultry keepers!

I’m surprised they are cuddling with how warm it’s been, I guess they just love their buddies that much!

Pulled 2 more eggs that hadn’t contained developing but we still have plenty in there😉

This one is a whole personality packed into on little fluffy body!😂
Runs up squawking like the world is ending, pecking at your legs demanding attention—then instantly goes quiet the second she’s tucked into your arms.
It’s like flipping a switch: full chaos to fully content the moment she’s held. 🐔💛

While everyone notices the chicks and pretty birds, the guys deserve some credit too!

A lot of what keeps the farm running happens behind the scenes—fixing things, building things, and lifting all the heavy stuff that I conveniently can't. 😅

Today Kyle helped me (or did I help him?) give the hoop coop some much-needed repairs. 🔨

Planted a couple months ago and already dreaming ahead—this little Arbequina olive tree is the start of something I’m really excited about.

🌿 Along with a pear, plum, and mulberry, I’m officially dipping my toes into growing my own fruit and building a more productive little orchard space.

What’s your favorite fruit, or what kinds of produce do you grow where you are?
