Please ignore my face. The sun and I were in a disagreement.😬😅

Instead, direct your attention to this giant sunflower that we never planted. It sprouted from spilled birdseed and apparently took that as a challenge to become the tallest thing in the yard. 🌻

Thought this was just a regular grasshopper at first, but apparently it's a wart-biter. Yes, that's really its name. 🧐

Back in 18th-century Sweden, people would let these bugs nibble on their warts because they thought it would remove them. I have absolutely no idea who looked at this insect and decided that was the solution, but here we are.🤷🏻‍♀️

Nature is weird. Humans are weirder.

Incubator #3 is officially in lockdown! 🐣

This one is packed with Penciled Palm and Bourbon Red turkey eggs, plus a couple from our own flock for good measure.

Now comes the hardest part—waiting. If all goes well, we should start seeing pips before too long. Fingers crossed for a strong hatch! 🦃

And we have our first baby from incubator #2! 🐣🦃

This little one is from our own flock and decided to be the first to make an appearance. There are still plenty more eggs working away in the incubator, but I’m always happy to see that first healthy poult up and moving around. Now the hatch watch really begins!

This hatch includes some Bourbon Red heritage turkey eggs along with eggs from our own flock, and the waiting game is officially over.

I can already hear little chirps coming from the incubator, which never gets old.
Even if I don't get to see everyone fully hatched until tomorrow, I’m happy to see them starting too! 💛
