A personal plea from one of our staff:

“There’s nothing more left to do but accept the truth. Cooper is probably never going to leave the rescue.
Nobody wants an old dog. He’s not small, he’s got some bumps and lots of frosty fur surrounding his soulful eyes. One can only imagine the things Cooper has seen in his hey day. But younger, smaller dogs are something he just can’t compete with. It’s sad enough Cooper lost his mom when her health failed, and now it is painfully obvious there’s just no place for him. So day after day for the past year and a half, he quietly sits in a kennel surrounded by the loud echoes of the other dogs constantly barking around him. Cooper sits on his bed and just waits until it’s his turn to go out. To get a break from the monotonous noise. And it’s not like we aren’t trying to find him a family. He attends every adoption event. He mingles with the other dogs and greets new faces politely. They oooh and ahhh over him but we know what they are thinking. They aren’t even pretending to consider taking him home.
Maybe this post is a rant. Maybe it’s just my sadness and frustration knowing what a superb dog Cooper is and he won’t even be given a chance.
Cooper is with us at Posh Pets Rescue in Long Beach NY. This is likely the only “home” he is going to know for the rest of his life. I’m sorry Coopy. I so wish I could do more because you deserve so much more. 🥺”

Yuki is a 6 year old Great Pyrenees who has already lived through more than most dogs ever will or should. He survived Hurricane Helene tied to a tree. His family did not. He arrived to us an absolute wreck of a dog, frightened, sick, grieving and unsure of the world. With time, kindness, loads of veterinary care and a soft place to land, he has come a very long way.

Yuki is gentle, sweet and a little timid. He is not the social cruise director type or the life of any party. He is more of a binge watch Golden Girls with a snack and a blanket kind of dog. He needs a calm home with a fenced yard and people who understand that quiet companionship is his specialty.

He is wonderful with other dogs, perfectly fine with cats and is exceptionally well trained. He is also absolutely gorgeous and he definitely knows how to work it. He deserves all the things and the very best of homes.

Yuki needs to be placed reasonably close to us in Nashville. Those willing to drive to get him are welcome to apply. This is not a dog we want to put on a transport. We do not want to stress him in any way.

Meat or cheese grinder. We used to make pimento cheese with ours. Ground the cheese first, then used a jar (small) of pimentoes to rinse out the grinder. Worked a treat! Some others say giblets grind really well in them.
