Dear Season
Twenty-Nine years
When we started it all
more than a business,
a place of resolve.
For some, extra money for holiday treats
And for others, simply put, a place to cut meat
-----
A place you could put in a hard day's work
Yell, maybe curse and not feel like a jerk
We encouraged that daily, hear our noise in the back
Soon we would find out if you had the grit for our pack
If you did not, well, go on your way
We'll be just fine finishing our work for the day
There's deer to be processed and bills to be paid
Keep moving forward no matter what they say.
Customers are waiting, hear that phone to ring
Your product is finished and your meat is in deep freeze
-----
And the customers, you loved us.
And we loved you too
It was a delight for us to get to know all of you
Couldn't have done it without you
We know that is true
And when it came to supporting the business
You all really came through.
-----
Seeing your smiles as you pick up your deer
That slim jim you pull out as you shift your truck into gear
The sausage you share at Thanksgiving feast
The stories you tell of the hunters' retreat
Slices of bacon hot or cold
Jerky so good but you should have tried the bold
Kielbasa and bratwurst tried and true
When it came to a good recipe
Tim and Tammy knew a thing or two
-----
But as fate would have it, things happen for a reason
And the damage would end what we called our Dear Season
Twenty-Nine years, where did the time go
Remember it like yesterday when we first started to grow
We put in our efforts, this we want you to know
But as for now it is time for us to go.
So hears to Twenty-Nine years
A final reap of what we sowed
We thank you for your best
And we wish you the best also
