Horses are incredibly social animals and friendships are an important part of their emotional well being. In fact studies have shown that horses remember other horses for years.

Standing beneath the trees, this morning, these two remind us that friendship isn't just a human thing. Horses seek out their favorite companions, find comfort in familiar faces and form bonds that can last a lifetime.
At Atwood Farms, we believe horses deserve more than just food and shelter. They deserve friendships, freedom and the chance to be part of a herd.
One of my favorite things is when I get to witness horses have a quiet moment with their best friend. 🐴🥰

Did you know horses need to lie down everyday to get deep sleep their bodies need?
A horse that feels safe, comfortable, and relaxed will often stretch out like this for a good nap.

Meet Orion 🐴🩶
Orion story began in the strip mines of Eastern KY, where he was born into one of the feral herds that struggle to survive the depleted landscape. Its believed that as a young horse he was pushed from his herd by the older stallions. Alone and vulnerable, Orion fell from a cliff and was badly injured. Thankfully he was rescued by KHS and given a second chance.
Today Orion is safe, loved, and living a life very different from the one he was born into, thanks to an amazing woman who saw something special in him and opened her heart to a horse that had already overcome so much.
Every horse has a story Orion's is one of survival, resilience, and the power of a second chance. 🩶

Our summer concert series has officially begun here Atwood Farms. 🎶 🐴

The audience is easy to please, just a little shade, some snacks, and a good beat. As one of our wonderful clients drums in the barn aisle, the horses gather around to enjoy the show.

No tickets required. Just horses, music and another beautiful day on the farm. 💚🌸
