Deer Grove Farms INC Started by Steve and Nila Kauffman in 1970 with approx. 300 acres of corn, soybeans, hay, and wheat. In early 1980s it became Deer Grove Farms.

In 1984 son Barry joined the operation and at that point they were farming around 1200 acres. In 1989 Pioneer seed corn built a plant in Plymouth, IN. At that point we started growing seed corn for them. In 1991 the farm Incorperated and soon they were farming 2000 acres of corn, seed corn, and soybeans. Then in spring of 2005 Barrys son Andrew started working full time on the farm. In recent year

s we have lossed about 200 acres partially do to development. In 2010 Andrew became part owner. Deer Grove Farms also rouges and does custom spraying for Pioneer seeds. They sell most of there soybeans to Louis Dreyfus in Claypool, IN. And there commercial corn is sold to North Central Co-op in Goshen, IN.

Hard to believe but today we could wrap up our soybean harvest. Here’s some pictures from this fall and a little bit of what we have been doing. We have seen all of our seed corn go and cover crops have been put on those fields as soon as they are harvested. The soybean fields that have cover crops have gotten the royal treatment and had manure applied as well. We have some extra this fall too Andrew Jr, Tiffany, and John Nice have all come and helped. Tiffany, Lynette, and grandma have all made sure Dad, Wes and I don’t waste away by bringing us food. Any way it’s been a good run this fall so far we still have corn to go yet so I hope we can carry the good run to the end of harvest season.

This tractor has been in the family since 1973 when grandma and grandpa bought it new! They took delivery on April 1, so in just a few weeks here it will have been used on our farm for 50 years!
