The list of gorgeous veggies is getting longer. Even though the weather has been very erratic this Spring, we haven’t had the torrential downpours of a year ago. The newest addition to the list is cucumbers. These little cukes should be ready to harvest in two weeks 🤞🏻
Our first market of the season is Saturday in Greenwood Lake (9-1). We will have a large variety of Spring veggies, as well as a number of potted herbs and heirloom tomatoes for your home garden.
Our first market in Florida will be 6/16.
Come out on Saturday to visit with Maya and I get some amazing food (and our own honey!).

I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t posted in way too long. Lots of planting and w**ding as I prep for the upcoming market season.
Maya and I will be on Saturday with loads of spring veggies and potted herbs/tomato plants. No peas yet but they survived the heat and are looking great! See you Saturday!

I spent some time yesterday trellising the peas and w**ding the lettuce and carrots before the rain. Even though we’ve had quite the roller coaster with weather this Spring, the veggies are looking great. There should be a beautiful selection for our first market at the end of May.
As stated in an earlier post, I will not be attending 97th Street this season. I will be staying local and will be attending a new market this season in addition to our beloved . We are joining the Florida Farmers Market every Tuesday 10–4 starting June 16. We still have a few CSA spots available and members can shop at either (or both) markets each week. All applications must be submitted and PIF by May 10.

Despite being a little windy, today was perfect for laying down a couple of rows of a degradable mulch. Although it looks like plastic, this mulch is plowed under in the Fall and decomposes. It has the benefits of plastic mulch, such as water retention and w**d suppression, but isn’t plastic. This mulch does start breaking down after a month or two so a few of the long season crops (tomatoes, peppers, eggplant) still benefit from plastic mulch, which is removed at the end of the season. Using these kinds of mulch make it possible for me to farm several acres by myself 💪👨🏻‍🌾☀️

The garlic is looking good! Growing quickly and mostly w**d-free (for now). 🧄🧄🧄🧄
Just over six weeks until our first market in Greenwood Lake and still so much to do!
CSA signups are closing soon. Email me for an application asap if you are interested.

16 years ago today, Maya and Claire found the ‘muddy muck’ ditch and grinned from ear to ear while getting absolutely filthy. We also planted our first crops, spinach and peas, as we began a new chapter in our lives.
So much has changed in 16 years but the land is still magical and I can’t imagine a better path to travel.

It’s brutally windy today, which makes it a perfect day to work in the greenhouse. So many tomato and pepper seedlings to transplant. Once we get through the next couple of cold nights, field planting will begin. Cabbage, broccoli, chard, kale, and many more plants will be going out into the high tunnel and/or fields by the weekend. Our first market of the season is at the end of May and we should have a great selection of veggies by then (weather permitting 🤞🏻). CSA share are still available but we are filling up fast.

As this long, messy Winter begins to change into Spring, I have some news to share. 2025 was a difficult season, both financially and physically. Due to several persistent health issues, I have decided to cut back this season. GrowNYC has allowed me to take a year ‘leave of absence’ while reserving my space at 97th St. to return in 2027 if I am able. This was not an easy decision to make, but is necessary for my overall well-being and that of my family. I will still be attending Lakeside market in Greenwood Lake every Saturday starting at the end of May. CSA spots are still available for Greenwood Lake.
I am considering a boxed CSA to drop off on the UWS this summer. This idea is still in its infancy, but please email me if you’re interested ([email protected]). I will send details if I can make that happen.
After 33 years on the UWS, this was a very difficult choice. It has always brought me joy to feed my large NYC market family. I greatly appreciate all your support through the years and look forward to seeing you all again. Wishing everyone a healthy 2026 ❤️👨🏻‍🌾

I wandered around the farm in the snow yesterday. It was cold, but absolutely beautiful. I love the complete transformation that happens with a blanket of snow. Some of the plants are still peeking through, but the land itself covered up and preparing for another year. 2025 was difficult, but I look forward to the wonderful days that lie ahead.
