🦬 A quick reminder for staying safe around bison:
Bison may look calm, but they’re powerful wild animals that can react in an instant when they feel crowded or surprised. A little awareness goes a long way.
🌾 Stay alert when rounding blind corners, coming over hills, or walking through tall vegetation where wildlife may be hidden.
👍 Use the “rule of thumb.” Hold your thumb out at arm’s length — if it doesn’t fully cover the bison, you’re too close.
👀 Watch for behavior changes. If a bison stops grazing to stare, shakes its head, paws the ground, raises its tail, or moves differently, it’s telling you it’s uncomfortable. Slowly and calmly give it more space.
📸 Never approach for a photo or try to slip past a bison at close range. Let the animal move away on its own.
