🌻 A whole lot of wind, a whole lot of rain, and a whole lot of resilience! 🌸

The hurricane may have taken down trees and tossed our flower field around, but one thing is for sure… the flowers are still blooming! 💐

Despite the storm damage, we’re so thankful to still be sending out beautiful, farm-fresh flowers this week! Subscription bouquets are heading out today and tomorrow, bringing a little sunshine after the storm. ☀️

And speaking of sunshine… Graceville Harvest Festival is THIS WEEKEND! 🍂🌻

We’re so excited to see everyone Saturday! We’ll be bringing fresh flowers, dried flowers, handmade wreaths, and a few other goodies we’ve been working on!

We will also have GF sourdough products with The Sourdough Loop and herbal creations with Bella’s Nature Cabinet!

The storm may have changed a few of our plans, but it certainly hasn’t dampened our excitement!

💌 Vendor update! We have officially sent out messages/emails to let all applicants know if they were approved and whether they received an inside or outside booth!

Our inside booths filled up FAST! As stated when registration opened, inside spaces were first come, first served. We wish we could fit everyone inside, but space is limited!

We are so thankful for the overwhelming interest in this year’s event and can’t wait to see everything our vendors bring!

If you’re working in Jackson, Holmes, or Washington County cleaning up storm damage, trimming trees, or running a chipper or mulcher, we’d love to take those wood chips off your hands! 🙌🏻

Bouquets heading out today + tomorrow 💐

Subscription bouquets + customer orders are filling the sill this weekend, and we’re soaking up every bit of these fall flowers while they last. 🤎

🍂 The flowers are starting to slow down, but fall is putting on quite a show. 💐

As we move farther into the season, we’ll have fewer bouquets available each week — so if you know you’d like one, now is the time to get on our preorder list! Our goal is to have flowers until Thanksgiving!

Preorders help us know exactly what we need to cut and make sure we can set aside the best of what’s blooming for you. 🤎

🌳 Anybody have wood chips they need to get rid of? We’ll take ’em! 🌳

Aldo Oakes Farm is on the hunt for a BIG supply of wood chips/mulch, and we are definitely not picky. 😂

If you own or work with a tree service, utility company, land-clearing crew, or anyone else who regularly has loads of wood chips to dispose of, we’d love to be considered as a dump site!

We can use a LOT as we continue expanding the farm, so multiple loads are absolutely welcome.

The dahlias have officially joined the fall flower party! 🤍🍂

Our first dahlias are starting to bloom, and they made their way into this weekend’s bouquets alongside zinnias, marigolds, gomphrena, blazing star, goldenrod, mistflower, and all the beautiful texture fall is bringing to the farm.

Summer color is still hanging on, but those wild, wispy fall blooms are starting to take over. 😍

I cannot wait to see what the next few weeks bring.

One of our favorites in the bouquets right now!

POLLINATOR PLANT OF THE MONTH: Goldenrod

If you see clouds of bright yellow flowers popping up around Florida in late summer and fall, don't be too quick to dismiss them as weeds! Goldenrod (Solidago spp.) is a pollinator powerhouse and is an important source of nectar and pollen! September is prime time to start noticing this late-season bloomer.

And here's a common misconception worth clearing up: Goldenrod doesn't deserve the allergy blame!

Goldenrod is often blamed for fall hay fever because it blooms at the same time as ragweed. But goldenrod's large, showy flowers are pollinated by insects. Ragweed, on the other hand, produces tiny flowers whose pollen is carried by the wind, and that's the pollen more likely to contribute to seasonal allergies.

So, when you see goldenrod glowing along a roadside or in a natural area this fall, think FOOD FOR POLLINATORS, not “allergy culprit!”
