We talk about quality beef and our customers seem to agree! However, how can we prove it. We have our beef, (nearly 100 head a year) processed at a small USDA plant, Steiners packing and obviously they don’t have a USDA grader on staff. Technology to the rescue, we purchased a MEQ solutions carcass scanner that grabs that data off of each of our animals allowing us to make better breeding decisions to continue to refine our already outstanding beef. Think of the potential benefits of getting consistent accurate data on 3/4 of your cow herd every year. Knowledge and accurate information is essential to genetic progress.

Here is a ribeye picture from two of our lucky customers beef we picked up today.

How do you make room for second and third cutting? It’s about quality relationships, with quality people and quality product. Thank you to Dylan and Roy at The Barn Pet Feed & Supplies for their continued support. Loaded three tractor trailers this morning. Make sure you support them if you’re looking for quality hay and Purina feed on Long Island.

Now to the hayfield to chop some second cutting grass to feed the cows for the winter. Great job as usual by the TVF crew.

TVF Bulk Beef Update

First, we want to thank everyone for their support, and we are so grateful to all of our loyal customers. Especially those who continue to refer their friends to our business! 2026 has reminded us of the crazy times during COVID, where we can not keep up with the demand from both existing and new customers.

As hard as this may be to believe, we have sold out all of our halves and quarters for the remainder of 2026, remember we are a 100% locally owned family farm that only raises and sells our own Angus cattle. We are hoping to have a “few” more animals to sell in 2027, but we have no plans to truly expand our beef capacity.

In order to manage our forward book, we have not opened booking for 2027 beef until now and have decided to give our previous customers a 45 day head start on booking slots for 2027. We will start taking orders 8/1/26 and will be exclusively accepting orders from existing customers till 9/15/26. After 9/15/26 we will again be accepting new and existing customers on a first come first serve basis for one of our prebooked dates in 2027.

Pricing for 2027 orders will be $5.00 /lb for halves, plus cutting and wrapping (currently $1.25/lb) and $5.50 for quarters. Therefore a 400 lb half will cost about $2,500.
Please order on our new and improved website www.thunderviewfarms.com or send us an email at [email protected].

So a short update on Nofence USA both cattle groups are adjusting well and were successfully moved to new pastures today! A little fun fact is that we took Ashton and Payton to NYC yesterday for a thank you and while on the ferry to the Statue of Liberty, I moved the cows on my iPhone!!

I hope they enjoyed their day, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, lunch at Fraunces Tavern, visit to 9/11 memorials, trip to top of Freedom Tower, and trip up 8th ave all the way to Columbia University! We wrapped up the day with almost a full team dinner at Gabys. Great Interns, great crew, we are very lucky at TVF!

Nofence update. Cattle are doing well, there are a few that keep testing the boundary, but no escapes today. They seem to have settled in.

Remember this is a group of 24 Angus cow/calf pairs and a bull. Calves do not get collars so they have freedom. Installing 25 more tomorrow morning.

Finally, a break in haying. We had time to celebrate two important Birthdays, with family and friends. Uncle Phil celebrated his 90th and Dad his 84th. We are so blessed to have their continued advice and leadership and forever grateful for the years of toil building TVF.

On another note as Patrick and Lorenzo brought home round bales from Napanoch, (so the bears don't rip them open for fun), the rest of the crew installed the first group of Nofence USA collars. We are very thankful to try this new technology through the support of the Watershed Agricultural Council. These solar GPS collars will allow the TVF team to draw new pastures and move fences virtually everyday, and should increase pasture recovery rates, and add more pounds to calves!

Over the next few days we will try and post a little about our experience with this new technology. We will then get them on more groups and we have a set for the sheep grazing on the Rondout!

An amazing day at Thunder View Farms knocked out over 2000 beautiful alfalfa Orchard grass mix on top of 1400 yesterday and another thousand tomorrow. What a wonderful crew Dad, Patrick, Andrew, Payton, Ashton, Lorenzo, and thanks to Scot and Dylan who helped grab a load at end of the day get a load home. Many people say it would be easy with all the equipment that we have but it takes operators who are dedicated and wonderful people to get a job like this done thank you! BTW the whole TVF crew enjoyed a nice evening at Tim McGraw last Thursday, so we do play sometimes!

Many of you know about our high quality beef, some about our high quality Angus genetics, but only a few lucky customers know about our hay. Thanks to The Barn Pet Feed & Suppliesfrom Deer Park, NY for purchasing most of our hay. Customers are the life blood of any business and we are always grateful to all of ours regardless of their size or product purchased.
