In honor of the International Year of the Woman Farmer, Women in Agribusiness, in partnership with the American Farm Bureau Federation, is expanding their annual Demeter Award to include a female farmer category. Nominations are now being accepted through June 22.

"How Sweet It Is: Investigating Sugars and Sweeteners" is a free lesson plan on the Curriculum Matrix, for grades 9-12.

Investigate natural and artificial sweeteners by sorting examples, tracing sugar from field to table, and comparing the pros and cons of artificial alternatives. Students build nutrition literacy by evaluating food labels for total and added sugars, then apply their learning in a taste test of cookies made with different sweeteners.
