🍎🥛 What Makes a School Breakfast Reimbursable?
Parents, we get questions about what students need to take from the cafeteria line for their breakfast to count as a reimbursable school breakfast. We want to make it easy! 💜💛

👉Students must take at least 3 items and one must be a ½ cup fruit or 100% fruit juice.

For example, a student could choose:
🍎 Fruit + 🧃juice + 🥛 Milk
🍌 Fruit + 🧇 Breakfast Entrée + 🥛 Milk
🍎 Fruit + 🧃Juice🌾 Breakfast Entree + 🥛 Milk = maximum nutrition

When a student takes a complete reimbursable meal, the school is able to receive federal meal reimbursement, which helps us continue providing nutritious breakfasts to our students. ❤️

Our cafeteria teams are always happy to help students understand what they need to choose!

Surviving Week One ❤️🍎

Well… we survived the first week of school! 😂 And if there’s one thing this week reminded me of, it’s just how incredibly blessed I am to do what I do with the women I get to work alongside every day.

Behind the scenes of Child Nutrition is a small but mighty admin team of five women who keep so many moving parts together. Our Secretary, Catering Manager, Inventory Specialist, Menu Planner, and me the Director may have different jobs, but together we make one heck of a team! 💪🏼❤️

The first week is always a whirlwind—questions flying, phones ringing, menus changing, deliveries arriving, inventory being counted, catering being planned, paperwork piling up, and about a million things happening at once. There are moments when we look at each other and probably wonder, “Are we really going to make it through this?” 😂

But we do.

We laugh.
We help each other.
We jump in wherever we're needed.
We pick each other up when the days get long.
And somehow, we get it done.

I’m so thankful for these four ladies who show up, work hard, care deeply, and make even the craziest days a little easier. ❤️

Week One: survived. ✅
Teamwork: strong. 💪🏼
Coffee: necessary. ☕😂
Gratitude: overflowing. ❤️

Here’s to another school year of feeding our students, serving our schools, solving problems, and making it happen—together.

I wouldn’t want to do this crazy, wonderful job with anyone else! 🍎💜💛

Dear Granbury ISD Families,

We understand many of you have seen recent news regarding the FDA's investigation into a Cyclospora outbreak and the statement released by Taylor Farms concerning iceberg lettuce sourced from a specific region of central Mexico.

At this time, Granbury ISD Child Nutrition will continue to have salads on our August school menus.

The safety of our students is our highest priority. We work closely with our food distributors and suppliers to monitor recalls and food safety alerts. Based on the information currently available, there is no recommendation to discontinue serving salads in our cafeterias. The supplier has already taken precautionary measures by voluntarily removing the affected source of iceberg lettuce from the U.S. market, and no Taylor Farms branded salad kits have been identified as part of this issue.

We will continue to monitor guidance from the FDA, USDA, and our food suppliers. If recommendations change or if any products used by Granbury ISD are affected, we will take immediate action and communicate with our families.

Thank you for trusting us to provide safe, nutritious meals for your students. We remain committed to serving healthy, balanced meals while following the highest food safety standards.

As our 2026 Summer Feeding Program comes to a close, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude.

To our incredible Neighbors Feeding Neighbors volunteers and our dedicated Granbury ISD Child Nutrition Summer Feeding Team—thank you.

Thank you for showing up every single day with smiling faces and servant hearts. Thank you for spending your mornings and afternoons outside in the Texas heat, loading meals, serving children, and greeting families.

Your kindness, compassion, and commitment made all the difference. Every meal served represented hope, care, and a community coming together for its children. Because of your hard work and selfless dedication, we were able to serve 7,151 meals to the kids of Hood County this summer.

Programs like this don't succeed because of buildings or equipment—they succeed because of people like you. Your willingness to give your time, energy, and hearts to this mission has made a lasting impact on the lives of so many children and families.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being the hands and feet behind this incredible program. We are so grateful for each and every one of you and proud of what we accomplished together.

💜💛 Together, we made a difference. Together, we nourished our community. Together, we showed our kids they are loved.
