The verdict is in! A few days ago when I caught a honeybee swarm in our field, I didn’t know if I caught one of our original hives that decided to try and swarm, or if this was a colony from out in the wild…After a few inspections of our two hives, I found out that the one I caught is…WILD! 🎉

Another beekeeper may have lost their hive, and I lucked out by having them land in our field. Or this was a wild colony on the move looking for a new home. Either way, I hope they’ll stay…I think they’ll like it here 😍🐝🌻

💜 Lavender lovers! 💜

Last spring we planted 250+ lavender plants here at Creekwood Farm, and now I’d love to share a little of that beauty with you.

I’m considering putting some extra lavender starter plants out at the farmstand this Friday and Saturday (weather permitting), that I haven’t gotten around to planting.

Lavender is a perennial, returning year after year with beautiful blooms and an amazing fragrance.

Things are really starting to come to life around here, and we’ve been busy getting our home and gardens ready for summer. Our first garden harvest is in - catnip and thyme! I hung the herbs in the greenhouse to dry and even discovered a tiny weevil hiding in the catnip.

I had planned to open the farmstand this past weekend with dried florals for sale, but the nonstop rain and wind had other plans, so we’re waiting for a sunnier weekend instead. In the meantime, we’ve been planting flower pots around the house, rototilling the fields and flower beds, and hardening off the seedlings we started indoors. Soon they’ll be planted in the garden and be on their way to becoming beautiful blooms once again 💐

Brendan also got himself a new tractor implement this weekend - a rototiller for the Kubota! It has more tines than the last one, so it will rip up more of the field in a shorter amount of time 🚜

We were able to make TWO full tulip bouquets, available for $20 each, plus our adorable “baby bouquets” for just $5 - perfect little bundles of tulips to brighten up your nightstand, bathroom vanity, kitchen sink, or any cozy corner that needs a touch of spring 💐

These won’t last long, so come soak up the spring vibes and grab your favorites while they’re here! 🌷
