New customers regularly ask why eggs from Cluckin' Hen Poultry Farm are so popular. After all, an egg is an egg. Right? If you need/want/desire a more scientific explaination, we”ll have to get the bird wrangler, Kristen, involved.
These are strictlly THE GOB’s opinions/observations.
-The birds are living the life. Visit the Farm(please call first), and you will find a menagerie of birds who just seem to be enjoying themselves. Geese strutting around like the badasses they are, turkeys (the golden retriever of birds) looking for a person to adopt, ducks looking for water/mud puddles to splash about in like a 4 yr old, hens wandering around under the watchful eyes of strutting roosters, pea hens mixed in, appearing a bit confused what they are, some kind of roadrunner wannabe bird(chuvkers?) zooming around, and quail making an appearance. Coexisting…living free…happy. All giving us eggs.
-Kristen uses clear cartons to show off the variety of colors the different breeds of chicken provide Crack one open and you find orange, not yellow yolks-they look rich.
-Most importantly, you can taste the difference. Wether its because they are truly free range, eating what birds are meant to eat, because they are quality breeds or just simply happy, they taste better.
But don’t take our word for it. Try a dozen. I’ll refund all your money if you can’t tell the differnce.
Find us Saturday morning at North Tonawanda City Market. Eggs are usually gone by noon.
NEXT WEEK: Quail eggs, Chucker eggs, Pen Hen Eggs, Duck eggs, Goose eggs and Turkey eggs will be discussed. Pick up Duck eggs this week and join the discussion.
