Our beloved matriarch Jane Pomykala is in hospice care, and is staying at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester. She made the decision to switch to hospice care back on Thanksgiving day, after a month in the hospital battling Covid, and Covid making her other health concerns worse.

On behalf of the family, I want to give a sincere and big heartfelt THANK YOU to everybody who has reached out, visited, and expressed support for my Mom. It's pretty special to see how many lives Jane has had an impact on. Returning to the family farm and working alongside my parents for the past 13 years is the best decision I have ever made.

Currently, Jane spends most of her time sleeping. She is still eating and drinking small amounts. She is comfortable and nobody, including her doctor, can really give us an idea of how much time Jane has left. They do expect her energy levels to continue to decline as a natural part of the dying process. Jane has been fighting stage three lung cancer for years, as well as Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, and heart failure.

There is a "Kudoboard" for Jane, and we are sharing new postings with her every day. It's a wonderful way to share a story with Jane, let her know you are thinking of her, and/or share some photos. Shout out to Aprille at the Champlain Islands Farmers Market for setting this up. Link below, please feel free to add to Jane's Kudoboard:

Jane is still happy to see friends in person, but we have recently put some limitations on in- person visits, as her energy levels are very low and declining. We are now only accepting visitors if an immediate family member is in the room with Jane for the visit. That way, Jane doesn't have to lead the conversation. She can listen in and add a word or two if she feels up to it. Expect short visits. Afternoons or early evenings are best. Reach out to Ben Pomykala BEFORE you visit: text 802-372-1883, or email [email protected]

Help Morris and Jermaine rebuild!

Full details on the GoFundMe page- link below. In short, Morris and Jermaine are father and son who have worked on our farm for many years- their houses in Jamaica have been destroyed by Hurricane Melissa. They return home this November and need our assistance to rebuild- first major direct hit hurricane in Jamaica since 1988. Our farm is able to function because of their hard work!

Thank you in advance for any help you can give.
