Hey everyone, hope you all are doing well!
We've had a bit of a setback here at MildStone Creek. Last winter we didn't stay here, we had an opportunity to stay in town for the winter and jumped on it because, honestly, we needed a break. We've been out here for 8 years now, and it's honestly hard going. We've had our little cabin since 2020, and we love it. But it's tiny, and we're trying to extend it a little bit to make a bedroom and a bathroom.
Sorry, back to the current situation. 😂
So while we were staying in town for the winter, some kind of critters moved in to the cabin. There was a one inch hole in the unfinished wall, just big enough for the power cord to come from the generator and the propane line for the stove. We think a porcupine got in and chewed the hole to make it bigger. Might have been squirrels, could have been racoons, who knows. Gary Dickieson went in to check in the house in the spring before the snow melted and found the hole. The only way to describe the chaos that was our home is.. just that, chaos. Literally everything was flipped upside down. The amount of animal s**t and p**s was astounding. They ate well, that's for sure. As in, everything. We had some emergency prepper type stuff, dehydrated and freeze dried fruits and veggies, all kinds of stuff. My cabinet full of rice and beans and flour is empty. They took an entire 2 gallon bucket of marshmallow fluff, we can't find a single trace of it anywhere.
They ruined our sofa and bed, the dresser we had the TV on was literally full of rice and popcorn and p**p. Bedding, gone. Clothing, gone. Towels, books, gone.
Everything is destroyed. We need help.
If you have it in your heart, please lend us a hand.
