It just so happened to work out that guys weekend came during a frost advisory. Thank goodness for “tall people things” on nights like these. Took a lot of stress off my plate tonight. From swimming in the lake to helping protect crops! I’m so grateful for our people! ❤️

Spent the last two days tapping trees with 3/4 classes! We all tasted the sweet goodness dripping, learned about the history and today’s process of tapping. Mac is loving sharing his knowledge about maple sugaring with his peers, helping teach and lead lessons. I’m so proud! Then we brought a newbie and a veteran (friends) home with us to check our home taps and to taste the difference while we collected, then delivered the boys their most favorite pine treats! (Currently hiding from a very intense nerf gun fight with the four of them 😝)

We started a few homestead taps today! Getting excited for maple sugaring lessons with our classes and for them to get their taps in this week!

When it will NEVER stop snowing and everything is smooshy, you make smoosh snowflakes for the team! Today, the lake effect snow bands decided it would be real cool to start while our busing staff was trying to pick up kids. It made for a rough day for them. You all are so brave, because I would never! Maple sugaring and mushroom season is coming right? Right?

Multiple things happening here:
1: I am messy. Love me or leave me.*see soap blend everywhere*
2: I am really focused on us right now. If you want to order bread, I am here for it, but it was never a goal for me to begin with, but I love making people smile, so I won’t shut down, just won’t advertise either.
3: Mads and I made Tea Tree Turmeric shampoo bars today (peppermint is cooling now). I cannot wait for them to be done next month! Huge thanks to for the support!
4: Snow days are nice, but someone please get me out of here! I need to be outside. These negative temps are frustrating!!
5: Aside from that, the kids and Tim and I are really soaking up the slow days. ❤️
6: The boys are okay, they aren’t happy with the cold, but we’re almost free!

Some of the boys were less willing to leave their spa treatment than others. Thankfully, we’re all trimmed, brushed, and have some extra cozy warmth added for these cold days coming up! ❄️❤️🥶

Since I already made the bread yesterday, this snow day we make tallow balm! Big thanks to our friends the Filbrandt’s for entertaining our dreams of making our own tallow products! 🥰

We stacked the mushroom logs after a morning squirrel hunt with our girl today! We had four over achievers giving us a preview to our harvest next year and one very cranky butterfly who had tried to overwinter with the logs. We were careful not to disturb it. The overripe mushrooms will go back to nature, and the small ones, we will harvest when ready! 🍄‍🟫
