Last night I randomly went out to collect eggs even though I really hadn’t been planning on it. Thankfully I did, because for the first time in 10 years, we had an unwanted guest in the coop. Using my incredible stealth and perfect water-squirting aim, I managed to persuade the skunk to leave the coop without spraying me, the chickens, or anything else. Pure skill, absolute luck, or a miracle from up above, I really don’t know. But I’ll take that win! 😅

Meet Tuebor, a handsome young ram we are leasing from my dad! He’s got his harness on with a nice green color so we can tell when he marks a ewe (giving us a due date for the lambs)! It’s not foolproof— he’s been here for two weeks and I just realized that his first color (orange) had worn off before I exchanged it. 😬 Oh well! Hoping to see some nice green marks this week.

My sheep shearer came and we worked through the heat today to get our 10 ewes sheared! He did the shearing while I trimmed the hooves. That’s 40 hooves! My back might not happy with me but the ewes sure are! 😊🐑

We are all surviving the heat here at the BFF but it’s not easy on the ewes. They are breathing hard, laying around more...

We are all surviving the heat here at the BFF but it’s not easy on the ewes. They are breathing hard, laying around more, and drinking lots of water. Thankfully the ewes are getting sheared tomorrow which will make life easier for them this summer!

We’ve had a very exciting couple of days in 1st grade! One chick hatched yesterday, four hatched overnight, and 10 hatched today at school!!! The kids loved it (almost as much as I did!!!). 🤩🐣
