This weekend's project: homemade lilac blossom jelly.

The blossoms were steeped into a fragrant tea, then transformed into a small batch jelly that smells just like a June evening in grand marais.

It may not be purple, but every jar is filled with the scent and flavor of lilac season.

Sometimes the best parts of life are the ones you can't buy at the store.

Great day to move the strawberries into their more permanent homes here at Gratoria Grove Farm.

They’ve done well in the straw bale beds, but it finally felt like time to give them a space where they can really spread out and settle in for the long haul. Little by little the farm is coming back to life again, and it’s exciting watching everything slowly find its place for the season ahead. 🍓

Mornings out here have become one of my favorite parts of life lately. The sound of chickens scratching through the leaves, goats waiting at the barn window for breakfast, the smell of fresh earth finally thawing again… it all feels grounding in a way that’s hard to explain unless you’ve lived it.

There’s something really beautiful about building a life connected to the seasons. Slow mornings. Dirty hands. Fresh air. Small moments that somehow end up meaning everything.

Little by little, Gratoria Grove Farm is coming back to life again and I’m so grateful to be here for it.

The beds are ready, the seedlings are growing strong, and little by little everything is starting to come together here at Gratoria Grove Farm.

The last few weeks have been full of building garden beds, mixing soil, moving compost, cleaning coops, prepping spaces, and getting everything ready for the growing season ahead. Watching everything come back to life after winter has been one of the best feelings.

We grew everything from seed this year, so seeing the seedlings healthy and thriving already feels incredibly rewarding. In the next couple weeks we’ll officially start gearing up for CSA season, baby animals will be arriving, and the farm will really begin to wake up.

There’s still a lot of work ahead, but it’s exciting finally starting to see all the hard work pay off. Spring is here, and we’re so ready for this season.

The snow is slowly letting go, the ground is soft and messy, the air has that mix of cold and warmth that makes you stop for a second and just breathe it in. Everything looks a little rough right now… but underneath it, life is coming back.

The garden beds are waking. The fencing needs a bit of love. There’s work to do everywhere I look.

But the animals don’t care about any of that.

They’re out here in the sun, walking around like this is the best day ever. The chickens are scratching and following me around. The goats are soaking it all in, noses to the ground, happy just to be outside again.

And honestly… same.

There’s something about this time of year that hits different. It’s not perfect. It’s not finished. But it’s full of possibility.

It reminds me that things don’t have to look put together to be alive. They just have to keep going.

Spring is here. We can all feel it. And I’m so ready for what’s about to grow.
