The smallest little watermelon 🍉

I planted some watermelon from seed in little old northern Wisconsin and this is the quite little bite sized guy we got. 🙃

Home pressed apple c***r 🍎

The Mr has been talking about making our own c***r for years, and our twelve apple trees are starting to get to the point that we can do it!

Two nights ago he took about 2 dozen Sweet Sixteen apples and pressed about a gallon of juice from them.

My goodness, fresh pressed, hot apple c***r 🤤

So grateful for what the land provides for us and I'm here for all the apple and pumpkin and warming spices. Let's go!

Kitchen Sink Soup 🍲

I thought life was busy before, but I've never experienced busy like I have this September. But the weather is starting to cool down and that means it's soup season.

I love this soup for the ease of it all. Ground beef with onion, potatoes, carrots and celery plus some garlic.

Diced tomatoes and tomato sauce. Kidney beans.

Some venison stock and salt and pepper. The addition of a some frozen mixed veggies. And the secrets ingredient is basil.

It's SO simple. I don't measure anything. But my goodness, having soup on hand is the bees knees when every one is going every which way (between volunteering, practices, working, and regular home things).

Thank goodness for soup season 🤍

How fortunate am I to have an abundance of food to process?

This year, my beans have provided 💚

I've done dilly beans. I've steamed them for dinner.

And I'm currently canning my 25th quart of pressure canned beans for us to enjoy in the winter months.

It's been almost a perfect bean crop for us in that I get about 5 quarts a week. My little one cleans them while she watches a show, then I cut them to bite size pieces and process them with a little salt and garlic while listening to my audiobook.

It's work. And a lot of time in the kitchen, but I'm so lucky to know on those busy nights or weeks when we can't get to the grocery store, we will have food on our shelves.

It isn't anything spectacular or special. But my heart is so full knowing I'm showing my babies what it is to proud of what we can grow and process ourselves and I can only hope they take some of that with them into adulthood

Packing lunches before the sun comes up so we can head to soccer for my mini me ⚽️

Last night, we got to watch an amazing football game for my big. (47-22! What a big win!)

I know this season of life won't last long so I'm soaking in all the moments, even if I don't get to cook too often 🤍
