We’ve eaten at a lot of Amish buffets in Indiana. We finally have an opinion on which one is better.

Das Dutchman Essenhaus in Middlebury and Blue Gate Restaurant in Shipshewana are both all-you-can-eat Amish buffets - fried chicken, egg noodles, mashed potatoes, homemade pie. They’re 13 minutes apart. And they’re not the same.

Essenhaus wins on food. The fried chicken is less greasy, better texture, better crust. Blue Gate adds a 1,700-seat performing arts theater and a 7,000-square-foot craft barn next door - it’s a full half-day destination.

A few things to know before you go: both are closed Sundays. Pie is included in the Blue Gate buffet. At Essenhaus, it’s $3.99 a slice upcharge - order it anyway.

There's something that hits differently about standing at Strawberry Fields, looking up at his sculpture, or walking past the house where it all started. Liverpool isn't just a city - it's the origin story of the most influential band in music history, and you can feel it everywhere you go.

We weren't expecting the Faroe Islands to be on our cruise itinerary. And then we sailed into Runavik.

Here's what we didn't know: the Faroe Islands are one of those places where the geography does something unexpected. You're in open water one minute, and the next you're looking at sea cliffs that climb straight up from the ocean 2,000+ feet. We're talking Gjogv — a harbor tucked so tight into the landscape that it feels like the ship is sailing into a painting.

There's also an undersea roundabout in the Faroes (yes, really), and you can spot it from the water. The whole stop is the kind of unexpected memory that makes people ask "wait, you saw that?"

A few more moments from our visit to Sky Lagoon in Iceland. Between the infinity edge, the seven-step Skjol ritual, and the crowberry elixir at the end, this was one of our top highlights from the whole trip, and easier to get to from Reykjavik than we expected (no rental car needed).

Tórshavn is one of the smallest capital cities in the world, and it is easily one of the most photogenic harbors we have walked.

Turf roofs on one side, working fishing boats on the other, the whole thing sitting still in flat gray water. Ten minutes on foot gets you from the marina to the old town.
