To anybody who purchased Sushi from Johnny's Cafe last semester - thank you so much. Each time you bought Anu Sushi, a person in Myanmar's life was changed for the better. To be specific, 999 lives were - just in the Fall semester at Calvin alone.

In the words of our founder, Bawi Lian:

“We came to America with nothing but hope. When we make sushi, we remember the children back home who have even less. Every roll we send out is a promise: if we can feed our customers well, we can feed those children too.”

That promise became Anu Sushi in 2018, started by Burmese refugees in Grand Rapids. Today, every purchase still quietly turns into meals and care for orphaned and at-risk children in Myanmar.
