A Mini Food Blitz to Muskegon had me going to six restaurants today. Hopefully, you haven’t been to a few of these and you will discover something new to you.

STUBBURN BBQ. I would definitely describe them as my favorite barbecue place in Grand Rapids. I’m in a bit of a rot as I almost always get their ribs and turkey, but they have some other great meat and side options (macaroni and cheese is my favorite side). Great food if you can catch them while they’re open.

OMURICE! The viral Japanese omelette that is as close to us as Battle Creek. This is another one of those dishes that has been popping up all over the Internet, especially the last month. Usually, it’s hard to find these viral trends close to Grand Rapids, but we had a place opened a couple of months ago in Battle Creek called OMURICE & RAMEN.

this place features both the omelette in question, and some unique Ramen options. I made sure to pick up an omelette and a bowl of Ramen.

The staff was incredibly polite and helpful, you could see that they were really excited that this Restaurant was in town and that they were representing it via customer service.

Another Mother is a brand new restaurant in downtown Allegan, Michigan. The owners of this restaurant formally owned Grain Sandwich shop in Grand Rapids, but brought their talents down to Allegan Michigan.

I am not the kind of person that would tell you that a restaurant is worth driving significant distances for (in fact, I’m very much against that), but this is one of those rare exceptions.

If I were traveling south of Grand Rapids, and looking for something of quality that wasn’t right in the big city, I would definitely drop by this restaurant, enjoy the meal, walk around downtown and perhaps end up hanging out by the river.

Soft serve margaritas! Yep, another viral food trend, but this one has actually made it to west Michigan fairly quickly. Taqueria Arandas in Holland is leading the charge on this one. The truth is that most people don’t know they have it yet….well, now you know!

5 Speak Easys for Jim! In the last few years, modern speakeasy buyers have become popular in the Grand Rapids area. I dropped by five of them last night to check them out.

Spring has sprung and the waterfront dining season has begun. Roses restaurant was filled with Lakeside diners yesterday and is looking forward to a busy summer dining season.

NEW RESTAURANTS ALERT (Teller and Trust)

Grand Rapids has two new restaurants in the Harris building, sister restaurants for lack of a better word.

Teller is primarily a bar that also serves some small plates. Trust, next door, is much more exclusive and large city style restaurant that has very limited seating and serves high-quality food to a limited audience.

It’s good to see the Grand Rapids food scene finally making culinary advances like this. Let’s hope that it sticks.
