I dropped by a taste of Chicago a couple of weeks ago to visit my friend Steven and his new restaurant. He has been the king of Italian beef in Grand Rapids forever now, and it’s good to see that he’s found a new location for what he does.

I had an opportunity to try the food at the new DAK Korean Chicken on Alpine. (It was my first visit, but I think it’s their 4th restaurant in the area)

I’m always looking for new Bibimbap and Ramen, so I was excited to give it a try. They also have pretty good looking lunch specials, I will try to attach the info.

My 4th (and final) burger of Grand Rapids burger week. The pickle burger at Nonla Burger.

Another air quality advisory day in Michigan. Canadian forest fires are adding an extra smoky experience to our air, and our food.

Even a couple minutes outside makes your clothes smell like a cigarette, so I was curious how many people would still eat outside in this weather. I have to admit, I was a little surprised..

Flowers of Vietnam. This is literally my favorite restaurant in Michigan. Yes, I’ve only been here two times and both times were awesome. It is literally everything I like in a restaurant.

1 day/22 coneys/ a lot of data crunching.

for a few years now, I have been wanting to go to Detroit and compare a bunch of Coneys. Well, that day happened yesterday.

I found a willing, Coke conspirator, I packed up the car, left the wife and kids behind, and off to Detroit I went. The following are the fruits of our labor.

The Dearborn Meat Market is one of the coolest restaurants in Dearborn. You order your food upfront at the meat counter and then they take it to the charcoal grill in the back of the building where they grill over an open flame and the food is always amazing. They have seating for probably 20 to 30 people if you want to dine in.

This particular cooking setup is no longer permitted in Dearborn, so these guys were grandfathered in. If I lived in Dearborn, I could easily eat here once a week. Soooooooo good!
