Cheers to Agile Approach from . A rich imperial/double stout part of the brewery’s Fibonacci series, this one boiled for 21 hours. This brewery has quickly become one of my go to’s for delicious and inventive beers and incredible food plus just really great people!

Hey there! My name is Joanna, and I am the real person behind this silly little giraffe that likes to drink craft beer. Since I started this character, I’ve kept it quiet that I am a woman because I knew I wouldn’t be taken seriously by many in the beer industry because of that. But that’s enough.
Like many of you, I’ve spent a lot of time reading the stories that have come out this week from ‘a account and others regarding the blatant sexism and harassment of women in the beer industry. It’s just gross. And the sad part is, I’m not shocked or surprised. I have been ignored at breweries, I have had the cocktail list handed to me while my male companion (who wants a cocktail!) gets the rundown on the beer selections on tap, I have been groped at beer festivals, and I’ve been leered at and made to feel uncomfortable in bars.
Men, do better. Women are not visiting a brewery for your entertainment. We are just as interested, talented, and knowledgeable about this great beverage as you are. We don’t need you to mansplain the difference between a West Coast IPA and a Pale Ale, and we certainly don’t need your help driving a forklift. I applaud those breweries standing up and saying no more and hope we do see a change.

Enough is enough, and the time for hate, racism, and sexism is over.
Women who are telling your stories, I see you, I hear you, I support you.

There is some irony to this picture while we watch the election results come on if you know your beer history. But damn it tastes good for the torture.
