Fall pond maintenance is about more than keeping the water feature looking clean.

Leaves, dying aquatic plants and other organic debris can accumulate in the pond throughout the fall. As that material settles and decomposes, it contributes to organic buildup on the pond bottom. Removing excess debris before winter helps reduce that accumulation and keeps the pond better prepared for the colder months ahead.

Important fall maintenance steps include removing leaves and debris, cutting back dead or dying aquatic plants, and installing pond netting before heavy leaf fall. Netting can help prevent additional debris from entering the pond and reduce the amount of material that needs to be removed later.

Staying ahead of fall maintenance now can make seasonal pond care more manageable as temperatures continue to drop.

At the beginning of last month, we sent our new content creator out on her first job site visit.

She learned a few things, admired a lot of big rocks, attempted some heavy lifting and discovered very quickly why extra clothes are a must.

Thanks to Larry and the team at Reflections Water Gardens for letting us tag along and get a behind-the-scenes look at the build, and to Keystone Hatcheries, LLC for supplying the project!

We’d say the first trip was a success 👏

What role does beneficial bacteria actually play in algae management? 🦠

Managing pond water isn’t always about choosing one treatment over another. Different products can serve different functions within an overall water-quality program. This raises an important question: where does beneficial bacteria fit when algae is the concern?

Alysia asks Jake how bacteria can influence algae growth and whether it can take the place of an algaecide.

Watch as Jake breaks down the difference and explains how the two fit into pond management.

Phil Higgins has been part of the EasyPro team for 12 years, and in that time, he’s gotten to know our business from quite a few different angles.

Phil has worked in Small Parcel, Motor Freight, and Customer Service Management, giving him firsthand experience with several areas of the company. He’s now stepping into his new role as Director of Continuous Improvement & Business Systems.

If there’s a cumbersome process that could be simpler, Phil is usually the person who sees it. He has a knack for finding ways to streamline how we work, along with the Excel and systems skills to turn those ideas into practical tools our team can actually use.

Right now, much of Phil’s focus is on championing our new ERP conversion, one of the largest systems initiatives EasyPro has undertaken. In his new role, he’ll continue finding ways to improve the systems, processes, and tools we use every day. He's making things easier for our employees and, ultimately, our customers.

Outside of EasyPro, Phil spends as much time outdoors as he can. He trains and competes with bird dogs, enjoys bird hunting, and can often be found supporting his wife, Judith, and her band. Phil and Judith also have two dogs of their own, Magnum and Floyd.

After 12 years with EasyPro, Phil brings a lot of company knowledge and experience into this new role. We’re excited to see where he takes it next!

We had the opportunity to visit Larry Carnes of Reflections Water Gardens and get a firsthand look at an impressive custom water feature under construction.

Larry and his team are putting EasyPro’s Pit Viper 2.0 system to work as a key component of a powerful filtration system designed to keep this impressive water feature clean and clear.

With years of experience creating one-of-a-kind water features, Larry brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to every project. It was exciting to see his vision for this build taking shape and the level of thought and craftsmanship he and his team are bringing to every detail.

It was great getting to see the installation in progress and witness the craftsmanship, planning, and attention to detail that goes into an impressive build like this. We’re proud to see our products be part of projects that push what’s possible.
