Our Utopian Farm We raise chickens for eggs and meat, also ducks and rabbits for pets and meat. We grow and can our own vegetables.

In spring we tap our maple trees to make maple syrup. In winter I keep myself busy knitting, crocheting and painting barn quilts.

Five more days to the last chicken hatch of the season. 31 eggs in the incubator. Most are barnyard mixes for meat 12 are Ayem Cimani’s. Hoping for a good hatch. Got the garden in and it’s growing beautifully. I finally feel like I’m caught up on things around here.

Finished the new chicken coop today, this is just for growing out the babies. 5 Ayem Cimani’s, 6 Easter Eggers and 12 barn yard mix for meat. Candled the 18 eggs in the incubator and only 1 wasn’t growing. 2 more weeks to go and we will have new baby meat chickens. Tulip had her babies small litter this time 4 baby rabbits. Faith should be having her babies in about 3 weeks. Spring is the best with all the new life. Trees are budding, grass is greening up, flowers are popping out of the ground and Mr. Bear made his yearly visit to the bird feeders. Life is good.

Looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day here on the farm. So much spring work to do. Finish the new chicken shed, put up some fencing for the Ayem Cimani’s, clean up the garden and start getting it ready for planting in a few weeks. I just finished candling the first batch of chicken eggs and they are looking great, 6 more days to hatching. Super excited.

Looks like sap season is over trees are budding out. Boys are out collecting the last of the sap. Looks like a long night of boiling and bottling.

Today I’ll start incubating my chicken eggs. I’m super excited but realistic that most likely not all will hatch. Let’s see what we get? I’ve read as much as I could to make sure I do it right. I’ll keep you all posted on the progress.

Maple sap in flowing we are in full swing boiling. Bottled 15 quarts today and boiling to make another 15 quarts later today or tomorrow. Collected 120 gallons of raw sap yesterday sure hope we get that much or more today. We’re small but mighty!

Getting ready for maple syrup season. Everything is ready except mother nature.

Working on the sugar shack. Windows in, drywall finished and painted and finish installing the flooring today. It’s starting to look good. Next we will be installing the wood work and window frames. Looking forward to maple sap season…6 or 7 months away.

What a busy day we had today. New baby ducks came this morning. Tulip had her baby bunnies early this morning. We now have 6 new bunnies that all look fat and happy. I love spring!
