Whistling Duck Farm and Store We're a Certified Organic family farm in the Applegate Valley of southern Oregon.

We have an on-site Store and Kitchen, and our produce, ferments, seasonings and more can also be found at local markets, stores and online. Farm-fresh produce plus fermented veggies, great locally produced foods, and organic meal staples.

Frost has come and we have lots of great fall fare at markets and in the store. Sweet potatoes are awesome! It takes two weeks to cure sweet potatoes after the harvest just before frost - 80 degrees and 85% humidity - to develop the sugars and harden the skins. And now they’re ready to eat!

First off, our favorite little farm dog Boo is pretty much fine and sleeping it off. Boo was in the road this morning and was hit by a truck. In this instance a big truck is a good thing because he went under it and didn’t suffer much injury. He got a full checkup at the Rogue Valley Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Medford and has no major injuries just a bit of bruising and road rash. Poor Boo! So many thanks to Jaime of Grip N Grub who stopped as soon as she saw him walking in the road and the kind man who hit him and immediately stopped to help. All appears to be well, thank goodness.
