Four Cubs Farm

Four Cubs Farm Four Cubs Farm is a family owned dairy farm located in beautiful northwest Wisconsin. Their number one goal while dairying is to have fun.

The farm has been in the Peterson family since 1877 when it was homesteaded by Gary Peterson's great-grandmother. The Peterson's mission is to develop a dairy that is a profitable, attractive symbol of American agriculture.

Not your typical boat on a pond! 🚤

Meet the remote-controlled manure pit agitator boat that the team fondly calls the “Poo Boat”. This floating pump system is designed to mix and suspend solids in our manure pit, creating a uniform nutrient blend before application.

Why does that matter? Thorough agitation ensures the nutrients are evenly distributed when manure is applied to our fields, giving our crops a natural, consistent start while maximizing the value of this resource.

Manure management is a key part of sustainable farming. By recycling nutrients back into the soil, we improve soil health, support crop growth, and care for our land for future generations.

It’s just one more way we combine innovation and stewardship to grow healthy crops and produce quality milk. 🌱

Spring fieldwork is in full swing, and today we’re putting nutrients right where they belong. 🚜🌱

Ben is out drag hosing manure onto our fields—an important step in preparing for the growing season ahead. By returning valuable nutrients back to the soil, we’re enriching our fields naturally and supporting healthy crops for the year to come.

Practices like this help us care for our land, improve soil health, and make the most of the resources our farm produces. It’s all part of our commitment to sustainability and responsible stewardship.

Spring is officially underway on the farm 🌱

Long days, early mornings, and a whole lot of hope are rolling across the fields as planting season begins. This time of year is all about fresh starts—getting seed in the ground today so we can feed our herd (and your families) tomorrow.

Grateful for sunsets like this and the chance to do what we love. Here’s to a safe and successful planting season! 🚜

🌽🐄🌽Harvest is upon us and it's the point in the year where everything comes full circle. The crops that we planted and cared for all summer are now ready to be harvested and will feed our herd of dairy cows. In fall we also spread manure. 💩 Although pungent, it is a critical step in caring for our soils to prep them for next year's growing season. Fields nourish our cows, and the cows' waste nourishes the fields.

🚜🚛🚜Our team has been working non-stop for nearly a week chopping corn silage - one of our main feed ingredients for the cows' diets. Next, we will be spreading manure, chopping the last crop of haylage in a week or two and then combining corn and soybeans in October. It is an intense part of our work year but rewarding to see our carefully cared for crops yield enough food to feed our animals for a whole year.

☀️We appreciate our community's patience as we have increased trucks and equipment on the road. Keeping everyone on our team safe is the most important thing for us!
