Today we were honored to be asked to be a judge at our local 4-H fun fair. It was nice to see that poultry is still alive and well in Nevada County with all the youth that showed up today! It also brought back many memories of our days of showing at the fair! Thank you for having us and we are proud to have been a part of it.

Happy Wednesday everyone!
We finally have some good news!
After weeks of inconsistent egg laying and delays we are finally back on track.
Currently we have eggs available for the following breeds:
Lakenvelder
Egyptian Fayoumi
Ayam Ketawa (limited)
Appenzeller Spitzhauben

Unfortunately some of our other breeds haven’t given us large numbers of eggs as of yet but we are hoping they will soon.
Our Barbu de Watermael’s are currently sitting on eggs that were left when we had to step away when we were dealing with the car accident. So we might have Barbu chicks here in the near future! If you are on our waitlist for Barbu de Watermael eggs thank you for your patience and we hope to still get you eggs this year.
We will be making individual posts on egg availability here soon and hopefully we keep getting the good returns. Also egg availability is subject to changes out of our control. Please read the pined posts at the top of our ranch page before buying.

From the land of fire and ice comes the Icelandic chicken! The Icelandic is a landrace breed that is genetically unique to themselves that not found anywhere else. It is of the utmost importance to not cross breed the Icelandic with other chickens as to keep its unique genes pure. This breed is currently listed as threatened by the Livestock Conservancy.
Icelandics come in a plethora of varieties, comb types, leg colors, and being crested or not crested. Sky’s the limit as what you might get! Just check out our breeding roosters comb, we have seen nothing like it!
We will have a limited run of eggs for them this year so keep an eye on our ranch page for updates.

The German Totlager or better know as the Deathlayer is one of the new breeds that we will be offering hatching eggs for in the future. This breed goes back hundreds of years in Germany and is known for its beautiful appearance and laying volume.
This is our hens first year breeding so hatching eggs will be offered on a limited basis this year. Follow our page to say updated on egg availability from this gorgeous breed!

Good afternoon everyone! We just wanted to give you an update on the state of things here on the farm. About a month ago we were involved in a hit and run accident at the Cedar Ridge Y. Unfortunately our car pictured below sustained heavy damage just behind the driver’s door. Everyone in the car was able to walk away with no injuries and the driver that took off is still at large. It has been a lengthy process dealing with our insurance and body shop that has taken much time away from our business. The car was deemed totaled and we are now in the final stages of the settlement.
We are now looking forward and getting back on track gathering eggs and also posting the new breeds we will have available. If you are on our waitlist and seeing this thank you for your patience and understanding.

Happy Saturday afternoon everyone! We just wanted to give you an update on our hatching eggs. This week we started collecting but as the week progressed we started getting lower numbers as we got closer to the weekend. We think this is because we currently have a very wet weather system moving through right now. Hopefully we will start seeing better numbers next week and start filling orders! Mother Nature has her own plan and we are along for the ride. We will keep you updated as things progress!
