Spent the day at the Nevada County Fair Livestock Auction yesterday to support the next generation in agriculture! It was nice to have several kids and parents come up to us who remembered us from poultry judging at Fun Fair a few months ago. It made us feel like we really made a difference!
At the end of the day we co-bought a lamb with Cedar Hawk Ranch Boer Goats and we bought a rabbit meat pen. Congratulations to all exhibitors on your success!

Totlager or Deathlayer is a old breed that comes form Germany. We are proud to have a limited amount of hatching eggs up for discussion. Located in Grass Valley, CA. The Deathlayer is known for its gorgeous appearance and prolific egg production. It is said that they will keep laying until death. If you’re looking for a rare breed look no further as they will make a fine addition to any flock!

From the desserts of Egypt we have the famous Egyptian Fayoumi! We have a limited amount of hatching eggs for discussion. This breed is incredibly hardy and is disease resistant! Fayoumi mature faster than most with roosters crowing sometimes at only a few weeks old. They are very independent and great foragers. They will make an awesome addition to your flock!

Lakenvelder hatching eggs up for discussion. Located in Grass Valley, CA. This breed comes from the border of Germany and Holland with its ancestry theorized going back to approximately 2000 BCE. Lakenvelders are currently on the Livestock Conservancy’s threaten list. This is one of our favorite breeds here on the farm. From the land of fire and ice we have Icelandic hatching eggs for discussion! Located in Grass Valley, CA. This landrace breed is genetically unique to itself and cannot be found in any other chicken breeds. Sky is the limit as to what traits you might get, from truly wild combs to all sorts of varieties! Today we were honored to be asked to be a judge at our local 4-H fun fair. It was nice to see that poultry is still alive and well in Nevada County with all the youth that showed up today! It also brought back many memories of our days of showing at the fair! Thank you for having us and we are proud to have been a part of it.
