The heart of Hart-T-Tree Farms. 💚

This is Grassy Creek, North Carolina—the little valley along the NC/VA border that our farm calls home.

Our Christmas trees grow across these mountains and hillsides, but this valley is at the heart of it all. It’s where we work, where our family has put down roots, and where generations before us have farmed and built community.

And you don’t have to wait until Christmas tree season to experience it.

Come visit Grassy Creek year round, stop by The Old Store, explore the countryside, and see the place behind the trees.

We think it’s pretty special here. We’d love to share it with you.

Happy Father’s Day to the dads, granddads, and father figures who show their love in big and small ways. 💚

This is a favorite farm memory from several years ago, when James was just a toddler with a very important job in mind: take a load of dirt to the farm dirt pile—about a quarter mile down the gravel road from my parents’ house.

Dad made it happen, pushing that little tractor the whole way, hunched over on the gravel road while James proudly rode along with his dirt. It was backbreaking work, but Dad has always said he doesn’t like the word “no”!

We are grateful for the yeses Dad has been willing to give—and for the lengths he has been willing to go to make a little boy’s important farm job happen. 🚜

It’s springtime on the farm 🌲

We’re excited by the vibrant new growth… and by those dark storm clouds rolling in too.

Northwestern North Carolina has been in a severe drought, and while rain over Memorial Day weekend usually isn’t ideal for our mountain tourism economy, I think most of us are at the point where we’ll gladly take the rain anyway.

The trees, the creeks, the gardens, the mountains - and our beloved New River need it. 💚

Today is Arbor Day! We’ve been planting Fraser for all spring, but today we are doing something special.

We are really excited to partner with the , and the NC Land and Water Fund to plant oaks, birches, and sycamores along the creek and build out the Riparian buffer zone so Grassy Creek can remain healthy for years to come!
