Another hatch going into lockdown🥳 Silkies, rainbow chicks, andddd…..SEBASTOPOL GEESE! I have wanted geese forever and the answer was always “NO” 🙄 that is until a few weeks ago when I was surprised with 4 goose eggs 😂 I just finished candling them one last time and all 4 look great! I’m so excited about these little babes❤️

A very overdue update to my hatching room! I just knew this shelf would be absolutely perfect for keeping all of my supplies together in one place! That 2nd shelf is where my 2 Brinseas that I use for hatching will go😊 My sweet husband worked all day on getting a gravity fed watering system for my brooder boxes together! I can’t thank him enough, he always goes above and beyond with all my chicken crazy 😜 That part was absolutely 100% his idea and I love it! I didn’t even know I needed that!

My favorite time of year! Spring Hatching Season❤️ I really wasn’t too hopeful about this weekend’s hatch due to the windstorm last week and being without power so long (props to a good friend of mine for taking my incubator for a couple of days🙏🏻), but I just put 63 babies in the brooders! So if anyone needs rainbow 🌈 layer or silkie chicks, I’m your girl!

lil bonus pic of our Ginger checking on her babies❤️

This is the damage 4.5 inches of rain did yesterday 😭 I came home from work to 3 of our coops under water, about 3 ft deep. The chickens were swimming like ducks! I have lived in this area most of my life and have never seen the water get that high! Today we are left with an absolute mess and mud filled coops but surprisingly, we only lost 2 babies! As heartbroken as I am over them, I can’t help but to be thankful that the majority of our babies seem to be ok! We piled all the silkies in one big coop further up the hill, replaced straw, cleaned out feeders and water bowls, and checked on each bird individually to make sure everyone is ok. It will take a few days for everything to dry out but so thankful this scary situation wasn’t any worse and we didn’t lose all of our babies❤️ and much appreciation goes out to our friends who offered to help clean up or help with a dry place for our feathered babies! Can’t thank you enough!

🌟Coop spotlight🌟 Yes it’s winter still and I desperately need to clean coops and birds😂, but These are some pics from my kind of newly put together Mauve/Chocolate/Cuckoo coop! It’s still a work in progress of course, but I kind of wanted a coop where I could hatch an array of colors, and I think that’s exactly what I’ve created😂 I have 3 roos in this coop: Mauve, chocolate cuckoo, and a black split to chocolate. The hens they cover are mauve, chocolate, black, blue, splash, and cuckoo. Most are silkie feathered but I also have silkie frizzles, satins, and satin frizzles in here so an assortment of feather types to go along with the colors! Like I said, it’s a work in progress still but I’m pretty happy with it so far❤️

Hello all! The 2023 season is officially underway and I just wanted to put out a little update as to what our little homestead is offering this year!

✨Please remember that we are located in the heart of central Kentucky and we DO NOT SHIP. Everything is LOCAL PICKUP ONLY✨

Ok, so here we go!
🌻Silkies🌻
-Gray/pencilled/laced
-Buff/Red
-Mauve/Chocolate/Cuckoo
-BBS/Chocolate (I have 1 black and 1 black/choc roo over all the hens in this pen so some chicks will be sex-linked chocolate pullets)
-Lemon Cuckoo 👉🏻PROJECT👈🏻
🐥each coop contains silkies,satins,frizzles,andNN
💯My birds are not your average, hatchery stock💯

Pricing: Chicks will start at $10/each for regular and project colors. $15/each for Choc/Mauve/cuckoo. Sex-linked Chocolate pullets will be $20. There will be a minimum of 3 chicks. I will give a discount if you take more than 10! All chicks are sold on a straight-run basis unless otherwise noted! All based upon availability of course, but I normally hatch February-September at least.
Please be mindful that if I offer some older babies, prices will reflect their age. I also may on occasion offer grown birds, but ❗️no pullet/hen will travel alone until all available cockerels/roos are spoken for❗️

Hatching Eggs: I have decided for the time being I will not be offering silkie hatching eggs 🥚 This may change later in the year!

🌻Large Stock Rainbow Layers🌻
Everyone knows I absolutely love my silkies but for the last several months I have also put a lot of focus into my big layers! In my opinion, there’s nothing like going out to the coops and coming back with a basket full of color! Blues, greens, dark chocolate browns, tans, and even pink! They’re nowhere near what I want them to be yet, but we will get there! Our hens consist of:
-Black/BC Marans
-Americaunas
-Olive eggers
-Easter Eggers
They are all covered by Black Marans & EE roos!
I will be adding to my stock all throughout this spring and summer! Hoping to add some Cream legbars and welsummers too!

Pricing: Rainbow Chicks will start at $5/each. Straight-Run!

Hatching Eggs: I will offer these by the dozen only, hens choice! $15. You will get a beautiful assortment of colored eggs!

🦚Peafowl🦚 (seasonal)
-We currently have 4 hens (IB, purple, purple silver pied) covered by a black shoulder IB male. I plan to hatch a very limited amount of chicks this year, but after I verify fertility I will offer their hatching eggs!
•Chicks will start at $50 each. Straight-run.
•Eggs will be $30 each

🤩Coming Soon🤩
Later on this spring, I plan to separate my Black/BC Marans from the rest of my big stock so we will be offering pure Marans chicks/hatching eggs when we are able to do so! I will update this when the time comes!

I plan on adding Silverudds/Isbars to our homestead this year! It will take time to add them to my chick/egg list, as I’m going to be raising these up from chicks, but they will be here! Speckled green eggs🤩

💲Forms of Payment💲
-We accept Cash, PayPal, and Cash App
-We will not hold birds or eggs without a deposit, I hate to do this but you would not believe the amount of times I have been ghosted!

😊In Closing😊
All of our animals here, are a part of our family and are very much loved! They are all treated with respect, love, and are very well taken care of! Our goal is to provide our family, friends, and neighbors with high quality stock and we hope you love and appreciate them as much as we do! If you have any questions or wish to inquire about something, just send us a message! Always happy to help in any way we can!

Thank you so much for all the love, support, and just following along with us on our homestead journey!

The incubators are fired up for the first hatches of 2023🥰😍🥰 silkies, Marans, olive eggers, EEs, and some other rainbow crosses! My big laying girls haven’t started back up just yet so I figured now would be a good time to buy from others to hatch, raise, and add back into my own stock. The pullets I add into my own should begin laying by the end of summer. I had several from last fall that would have almost been at point of lay by now but between a predator issue and then the extreme cold we had, I lost all but 3😭 As far as silkies, I’m super excited about this hatch to see if my new Mauve man and his ladies are doing their thing and the Lemon Cuckoos! Stay tuned for all that! With all that being said, I plan on putting out an updated price list and what all we will be offering for the 2023 season very soon, probably by the end of this week🙂

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and is enjoying this New Year’s weekend! That cold snap last weekend was absolutely BRUTAL🥶 and because of that, my husband and I discussed downsizing our (well, MY 😂) birds because of how hard it was to make sure they were all taken care of appropriately (we have 4 silkie coops, a coop for the peafowl, a coop for the pea babies, and a coop for my big stock layers). Well… long story short, he said downsize but I heard no such thing, we survived it😂 With that being said, we went and picked up 2 new breeding groups today from the fabulous Jill Bowman! ⭐️MAUVE and LEMON CUCKOO⭐️ I am so in love with these babies! They are all absolutely gorgeous but them boys are on another level😍 I’m such a sucker for a pretty rooster! I cannot wait to hatch some babies from these beauts! Thanks again Jill♥️
