👀 for new 🏡

We have these 2 precious souls that are best buds that would love to stay together.
Millie and Spud

Millie:
Beautiful High Park heifer born 12/7/2025 out of a High Park sire and dam. She's incredibly sweet, gentle, and has been handled regularly, making her easy to be around and would be a great addition to any family. She continues to develop into a very personable calf. Her sire Eeyore is from Ginkgo Cattle Company. Millie would make a fun and unique Father's Day gift.

Spud:
He is an adorable and super friendly high park calf (steer). His sire is the well-known miniature bull, Chip, and has been raised in a hands-on environment, making him very calm and great with people. He has a beautiful light coat with dark ears and nose, and will make a perfect addition as a pet, companion, or small farm animal. His dam, Nova, is an excellent mom with a calm disposition, great utter and feet. He is Chondro negative and polled, testing was done UC Davis.

Both are located in Upstate SC. Both will be halter broken and immunizations up-to-date.

Update: we have finally gotten some rain so posting pictures and a video of our fence across the creek. Have a look.

Anyone have that area of fence that just gives you fits? Is it over flowing water? Well ours is! The area in question is right beside the girl’s water hole that they lounge in when it’s hot. It’s a spring fed area that stays nice and cool year round. They love it there, but keeping fence up has been a struggle. They love to back up to the fence and rub their bum on the area. I did some research and hopefully figured out a way to fix the problem.

The main challenge was balancing three things:
• keep cows from crossing
• allow floodwater through
• prevent logs/debris from tearing the whole fence out

A few key design ideas that repeatedly came up in successful builds:
1. Panels should not be rigidly fixed
One side often needs to swing, float, or break away.
If debris pressure builds, the fence gives instead of ripping out posts.
2. Use overhead cable support
Many systems run cable or high-tensile wire bank-to-bank and hang panels from it.
During floods, the panel rises or swings downstream.
3. Smooth surfaces catch less debris
Woven wire traps every stick.
Vertical hanging pieces or smooth panels let debris slide by easier.
4. Cows usually respect visual barriers
Adult cattle generally will not force through hanging panels if the fence line is established.
Many producers note cows avoid even lighter water-gap systems once trained.
5. Breakaway sections save the rest of the fence
A sacrificial section is easier to repair than rebuilding 100 feet of fence after every storm.

So a very common modern setup is:
• strong brace posts on each creek bank
• heavy cable stretched across
• hog or cattle panels hung from chain or rings
• bottom free to swing downstream
• optional hot wire above

Here are some before and after pics of the area. Supposedly cows will not go thru the panels. They do swing both directions. Debris that floats downstream during heavy rain should just push the panels up and keep floating on by.
Show me your struggling fence area or even before and after pics of how you fixed your area.

Oh my this guy scared the living daylights out of me. Was about to open the duck coop door and just happened to look down. I would have 💩myself if I'd stepped on him. No worries though he was relocated safe and sound to a better living area.
