A Little Potato Experiment at The Rustic Roost!

This summer, I decided to experiment with growing potatoes, and started small!

I planted just three seed potatoes in each of two towers. One tower was watered by hand whenever I remembered, while the other was hooked into the drip irrigation system we already use throughout the garden.

Well… both towers actually did surprisingly well!

But there was definitely a winner. The tower with consistent drip irrigation outperformed the other by quite a bit.

That little experiment taught me a lot, and next year I am going to take what I learned and scale it up! I will be adding more potato towers and making sure they’re all connected to irrigation.

That’s one of our favorite parts of growing here at The Rustic Roost, trying something new, learning as we go, and dreaming a little bigger each season.

Did I just go to the garden for dinner… yes!!!

I may not have a huge garden yet, but one day I will and I can’t wait to share it all with you, whether that’s up here on the hill or throughout our community.

For now, it’s small and a little wild, but the dream is bigger… and honestly, this is absolutely perfect for right now.
