🐝🍯 The Numbers Behind This Week’s Honey Flow Are Mind-Blowing 🍯🐝

A worker honey bee produces only about 1/12 teaspoon of honey in her entire lifetime.

During peak season, she may visit 2,000 to 5,000 flowers every day, flying mile after mile to collect nectar for the colony.

Now look at this week’s scale gains. 📊

Our colonies added between 8 and 35 pounds in just 7 days.

A single pound of honey represents the lifetime work of roughly 700 bees. That means our top colony, SP4, gained over 35 pounds this week—the equivalent of about 25,000 bees’ lifetime honey production being stored in just one week. 🤯

Every bar on this chart represents millions of flower visits, thousands of foraging trips, and tens of thousands of worker bees doing exactly what they were designed to do.

When you see a jar of local honey, you’re not just looking at honey. You’re looking at the combined effort of an entire superorganism working from sunrise to sunset.

🐝 Small bee.
🌸 Millions of flowers.
🍯 Incredible results.

That’s the power of a strong colony during a Northeast Wisconsin honey flow.

The bees do the work. lets us watch the story unfold one pound at a time.

🐝 If You’re Driving Past or Stopping By… You’re Looking at the Next Generation of A-Frame Acres 🐝

These three small colonies under the tree may not look like much yet… but they represent the future — and sustainability — of our apiary.

Each one was split from one of our top-performing colonies based on real-world data:
✔️ Strong winter survival
✔️ Gentle behavior
✔️ Brood production
✔️ Honey production

These colonies are now raising daughter queens from proven northern genetics right here in Wisconsin. The goal isn’t just more bees… it’s building stronger, healthier, more sustainable colonies year after year.

And because we’re a data-driven apiary, we’re following their queen development in real time using technology and the new QueenMinder tracking tool. 📊🐝

A-Frame Acres — From Our Yard to Your Table.

🌸🐝 Spring at A-Frame Acres is officially buzzing.

The apple blossoms are popping, dandelions are lighting up the yard, and the fronts of the hives are packed with bees coming and going like a tiny airport at rush hour. For beekeepers, this is one of the best times of the year — watching colonies explode with life after a long Northeast Wisconsin winter.

Beekeeping isn’t just honey harvesting.
It’s year-round husbandry.
Storms, mud, snow, cold snaps, swarm season — the bees still need care every single week.

If you’re looking to get out of the house this weekend, the Honey Cart will be open:

🍯 Saturday: Noon–7 PM
🍯 Sunday: Open All Day

Stop by for fresh raw local honey, enjoy the spring scenery, and grab a complimentary old-school Bit-O-Honey candy on us while supplies last 🍬🐝

🚨 New Apiary Expansion: A-Frame Acres River Division 🚨

After all the rain, we decided to pivot the business model…

🌊 Waterfront hives
🚤 Boat-access inspections only
🐝 Now offering “drip irrigation”… naturally

The bees are adapting well, but we’re considering life jackets for the queen 👑😂

In all seriousness—this is spring in Wisconsin. One day you're checking brood… next day you're running a marina.

If you’re stuck inside from the rain, swing by the honey cart this weekend (9–6).
Warm, raw honey > cold, wet weather 🍯

And yes… grab a piece of Bit-O-Honey on us—because some things still make sense.

🌧️🐝 Spring is waking up at A-Frame Acres

The mini creek is flowing again after the storms…
Branches are down, cleanup has begun, and the mud is back.

The birds are tucked in.
The bees are clustered—staying warm and dry.

This is the part most people don’t see…
Beekeeping isn’t just about collecting honey in the summer.
It’s year-round stewardship—through cold, wet, messy days like this.

Because strong colonies in July are built by what we do right now.

If you’re looking to get out of the house this weekend,
🍯 The Honey Cart will be open 9am–6pm

Stop by, stretch your legs, grab some fresh raw local honey…
and grab a piece of candy on us — a little throwback with Bit-O-Honey 🍬

What’s in Your Honey? The Science Behind A-Frame Acres Harvests

Pollen analysis by Mellifloral confirm something we’ve always known — our honey reflects the incredible forage diversity here in Brown County, Wisconsin.

🌼 Wildflower Blend — AVAILABLE NOW
Majority of our honey is a summer wildflower blend with nectar sources including:

• Sweet Clover
• Clover
• Basswood
• Holly
• Chestnut
• Buckthorn

Flavor profile: Light, floral, and bright with citrus notes.

This diverse pollen profile is what gives local honey its unique regional character.

🍂 Fall Goldenrod Harvest — SOLD OUT / LIMITED

Our September Goldenrod honey is a very different experience.

Dominant nectar sources include:
• Goldenrod
• Chestnut
• Clover

Flavor profile: Deep amber with creamy butterscotch and spice notes.

Goldenrod honey is always a short seasonal harvest, and our last batch has already been spoken for. When it’s available, it’s one of the most unique honeys Northeast Wisconsin produces.

🤧 Buying Honey for Allergy Support? Here’s what our pollen profile shows:

Trace pollens found in our honey include species commonly associated with local seasonal allergens such as:

• Ragweed
• Oak
• Pine
• Ash

These are present in small natural trace amounts, which is one reason many people seek out locally produced raw honey.

🌸 Good bees. Good forage. Good beekeepers.
That’s been the recipe for great honey in Brown County for over a century.

🐝 With yesterday’s warm weather, the bees are ready to repeat history 🍯

Did you know that over 100 years ago, Brown County was already recognized as one of the best honey-producing regions in the country?

In 1919, a University of Wisconsin professor told members of the Brown County Beekeepers Association that our area was a natural honey hotspot. With abundant forage like clover, basswood, and wildflowers, Northeast Wisconsin provided ideal conditions for honey bees to thrive.

Fast forward a century… and not much has changed.

Thanks to strong forage, healthy bees, and passionate local beekeepers, our region is still producing incredible honey today.

🐝 Good bees.
🌸 Good forage.
👨‍🌾 Good beekeepers.

That’s been the recipe for great honey in Brown County for more than 100 years and we are excited to carry on the tradition!
