Bunny and the Bee farm Small farm/homestead in the mountains of western North Carolina. We have rabbits, chickens, ducks, Guinea hens, bees and goats. There is never a dull moment.

We are experimenting with Primal Bee hives this year. We got 2 but are running tests on 3. One is 3 nucs put together to give the frames enough space. After a month, this is a frame from the “fake” primal hive. It is looking great. We have gotten some great data from the 3 setups. If you are thinking of getting one or have questions, please reach out. We will be putting up a video in a couple weeks. I will try and come back to add the link.

Tulip poplar is still on the trees, that must mean one thing. HONEY must be right around the corner. The girls are capping it and it is tasty. We got our first six frames today. Thank you to everyone who buys and enjoys our girl’s honey.

We are trying something new this season. The Hive Mind | Primal Bee hives. Those of you who know me, know I have been looking for something better. No idea if it is out there. The thick hive I built has survived 2 winters. The long hives, 3 winters. So maybe there is something similar to bees in nature. Anyway I was waxing the frames tonight with wax from our hives, rollered it on to both sides. I did 4 frames and when I put the last frame back in the box, I could feel the heat in the box. Actually feel warmth coming up. Not sure what the results will be but excited to give it a shot. Follow us for more updates.
