All the bottle babies keeping each other warm for the super cold night tonight. I had to wake up Ace (the brown dapple) while I had one of the does inside since he's the only one I've gotten to nurse from an actual udder but I felt so bad about it since he was so comfy with his siblings

We've got lambs available again! Both rams and ewes this year. Only a small handful of ewes at the moment since we usually wait until 3 months old to wean them (as opposed to 2 months with the rams since we usually run into accidentally breeding problems if we wait longer than that), but we've got both Katahdin and Painted Desert as well as a bunch of lambs that have are mostly one breed but have a small amount of influence of the other. At this percentage they should typically breed true like a purebred but may get occasional surprises in things like color or horn development. All Katahdins will be commercial this year.

We also have some bucklings looking for new homes. We have 3 Boers and 1 Nubian. The Nubian is from a grade doe but his father is pending registration and has excellent milking heritage.

We've gotten some pretty neat looking lambs this year! Victoria here is one of my favorites.

Taking miss Claire in to my milking stand to get milked out and given some meds for infection caused by placental abruption (she delivered twins this morning but her placenta had detached itself from the wall of her uterus before delivery and both lambs had died). She was very unenthused about being haltered and the rest of the flock was highly suspicious of why I was taking her away lol

I really wish I could try to foster a lamb onto Claire since she's still been calling for her babies and she stands really nicely for being milked but obviously it's not possible at least at the moment with her infected colostrum. Just one of the rough parts of farming.

Forgot to post that we had our first calf born last week! He's a 3/4 Angus 1/4 Jersey bull calf who's done really well. He's a really good size and has surprised us with how strong he is since he's already been swimming in our pond with his mother.

Actual real lambing season should be starting next week! Should have about 51 ewes lambing over the next couple months.

I love how sheep stay in family groups, even once the lambs are grown. Luisa (left) still loves spending time with her mom, Lottie, even though she's definitely not a baby anymore! Really happy with how this girl is turning out. She just turned 1 in December and as you can see she's already got her mom beat in size. She should be expecting a baby of her own this spring.

Winter lambs keep coming and all look like they're from Jethro lol! We're up to 10 lambs from 6 ewes. 6 girls and 4 boys. I'm just thankful that the weather has stayed nice for them being born and hoping we don't have more before March 🤞

Still have a handful of ewes that didn't get marked but I'm hoping they got bred before I got paint on the boys (didn't get paint on Darcy or Jethro until they'd already been with their girls for a full day and it took an entire 4 days to get Willoughby to let me put it on him)

I swear one of these days we will actually manage completely planned lambing seasons 🤦‍♀️

Got surprised by this little man this evening! He appears to be full Painted Desert.

Still have 26 turkeys available! Both hens and toms. Asking $1000 for the whole group. Must take all or at least half of them. I've had too many people just wanting a few and I just need them gone at this point! They're 6-7 months old so ready for Thanksgiving dinner! Narragansetts and Bourbon Reds. Located near Green, KS.

All of my dairy does have been confirmed pregnant now and all of their kids will be available at weaning.

Due dates:

Faye - November 14. She's bred to Tumnus, our main Boer breeding buck. Expecting 1, maybe 2 kids. Kid(s) will be 50/50 Nubian Boer

Celine - January 26. She's bred to Cabrito, our 2021 Boer buck. Expecting 1 kid. Kid will be 50/50 Nubian Boer

Rosemary - February 2. She was bred by both Boer bucks and Samurai, my Nubian buck, due to both the Boers and Rose being talented at jumping fences so waiting to see how her kid turns out. Expecting 1 kid, which will be either 75% Nubian 25% Boer or 75% Boer 25% Nubian since Rosemary is a 50/50 cross from Celine and our previous main Boer breeding buck, Caspian.

I plan to attempt to ultrasound the Boer does on Saturday and will post confirmation of any more pregnancies then. The Boer does are still available for sale and will be sold either as bred does or as families with their kids in the spring. Due dates for these would be between January 25- February 1.
