There are parts of farming that fill your heart—and parts that break it.

Today we lost one of our cows to an injury, and it’s a reminder of the harder side of this life we’ve chosen. No matter how many years you do this, it never gets easier. You care for them daily, watch them grow, depend on them, and in many ways, they depend on you too.

Farming isn’t just long hours and hard work—it’s emotional. There’s pride in raising animals right, but there’s also heartbreak when things don’t go the way you hoped. You do everything you can, and sometimes it still isn’t enough.

We’ll keep going, like farmers do. But today, we slow down a bit, feel the loss, and remember the responsibility and respect that comes with this life.

Hug your animals a little tighter tonight. 🤍
